Description

The ultimate compilation “ULTIMATE STUDIO WORKS: THE DICKINSON YEARS” was released at the end of 2019 and has received rave reviews. This is a super definitive collection of rare tracks from Bruce Dickinson’s era, but as the title suggests, only studio recordings were included. This time, it’s a 3-disc sequel to that masterpiece and includes a “live version”! This work includes 46 songs and approximately 4 hours of official live takes. Of course, it is a super superb stereo sound board recording. During Dickinson’s time, he has released many full live works ranging from “Resurrection of the Dead” to the latest “THE BOOK OF SOULS: LIVE CHAPTER”, but this work is a live recording that leaked from such long works. A collection of “takes that cannot be listened to all at once” of individual songs scattered across various singles. In any case, it is best to introduce rare trucks individually. Let’s get started. [DISC 1: 1981-1985] 1981: Warm-up tour immediately after joining Bruce (1 song) This work is a 3-disc set packed with hidden treasures, but the first one was released in 1981, immediately after Bruce joined. This is a collection of 14 tracks from 1985 to the “Powerslave” era. The first song that appears is “Remember Tomorrow,” which was Bruce’s first live take. Bruce joined the band in 1981, and his first tour was on the last Italian tour of the “KILLERS TOUR” which also served as a warm-up (you can enjoy that tour on our famous album “KILLER GIG WITH DICKINSON” and others) ). This “Remember Tomorrow” is said to have been recorded at that time, but according to inspection by enthusiasts, it is also said that blues was overdubbed on the backing of “MAIDEN JAPAN”. 1983: Dortmund performance (2 songs), followed by “ROCK POP FESTIVAL”. The festival footage is also included in the official DVD “THE EARLY DAYS”, but this work includes two completely different takes of the songs. “The Number of the Beast” was included in the single “Aces High” and was taken on “December 17th”, the day before the official DVD (this festival was performed for two consecutive days). “Iron Maiden” was cut from the TV broadcast on “December 18th”, the same date as the DVD, and as a result it was not included in “THE EARLY DAYS”. Actually, Eddie was killed in this “Iron Maiden”, and the TV station rejected it because it was “too cruel”. However, because it was such a popular and historic performance, it was featured in the official history video “12 WASTED YEARS”. What is included in this work is its official sound board. 1984/1985: “WORLD SLAVERY TOUR” (11 songs) Although it was long with only 3 songs, the main disc 1 is 11 songs from “WORLD SLAVERY TOUR”. The first seven songs are takes from the official video “BEHIND THE IRON CURTAIN”. Of course, it has been made into an official DVD as a bonus for “Resurrection of the Dead,” but “BEHIND THE IRON CURTAIN” is just a documentary work, and the live performances are scattered song by song in various places and difficult to watch. In this work as well, the fragments of less than one song that are played behind the interview are omitted, but the full one song is a collection. We made it so that you can only enjoy the live performance without worrying about the documentary. The last four songs are single tracks accompanying “Resurrection of the Dead.” Here, too, I’ve narrowed it down to only “things you can’t listen to in long-length works.” For example, “Sanctuary” is a different take from the “Resurrection of the Dead” DVD, and “Murders In The Rue Morgue” and “Losfer Words (Big ‘Orra) * Super Precious!” cannot be heard on either the album or DVD version. “Running Free” is the same take as the album, but it is a single edited version with the middle part significantly cut. A bonus cover of “Smoke On The Water” is included at the end. This is also a wedding performance that was included in “BEHIND THE IRON CURTAIN”. [DISC 2: 1988-1993 & 1999] 1988: MONSTERS OF ROCK’s single limited tracks (3 songs) Disc 2 covers from “The Seventh Prophecy” to 1993 when he left the blues, and the first release after his return. This is a take of “ED HUNTER TOUR”. The beginning is 1988 of “The Seventh Prophecy”. This tour includes “MAIDEN ENGLAND” and “BBC ARCHIVES”, but this work has three singles that cannot be heard there. 1990: Wembley Arena performance (6 songs) The best single in this work is the single from the “NO PRAYER FOR THE DYING” era. You can enjoy plenty of rare songs that cannot be heard on long live albums, such as “Holy Smoke,” “The Assassin,” “No Prayer For The Dying,” “Public Enema Number One,” and “Hooks In You.” 1992/1993: Single-only tracks (2 songs) During the “FEAR OF THE DARK” era just before Bruce left, there were a series of live songs such as “A REAL LIVE DEAD ONE”, “LIVE AT DONINGTON”, and “RAISING HELL”. Almost all of the singles were long works and takes. However, there were two exceptions: “Wasted Years” and “Wrathchild.” In particular, “Wasted Years” is the only soundboard take in the Bruce & Yannick era. 1999: THE ED HUNTER TOUR (6 songs) The era flew by and blues returned in 1999. MAIDEN, a 6-member band, was born. “THE ED HUNTER TOUR” accompanying the best edition is considered the ultimate tour among fans, but unfortunately there is no long sound board, both official and unofficial. The six single tracks collected here are the only soundboard. Moreover, the contents are special. There are only delicious songs such as the super fast and excellent “Aces High”, the last “Killers” of this tour, “Man On The Edge” and “Futureal” from the Blaze era that can not be heard in long live songs. [DISC 3: 2002-2019] 2002: Clive Barr’s charity gig (4 songs) The third and final disc is a rare track after the six-piece formation became established. The beginning is a charity concert for Clive Barr, who is affected by multiple sclerosis. 2005: EARY DAYS Tour’s Iceland performance (3 songs) The highlight of Disc 3 is the 2005 Iceland performance. On this tour, a large number of songs from the Diano era, which are rarely played by six-piece formations, were played in large quantities, and “Murders In The Rue Morgue,” “Another Life,” and “Prowler” were also included in the single “The Trooper” (A-side “The Trooper” is omitted from this work as it is the same take as the DVD “DEATH ON THE ROAD”). In particular, “Murders In The Rue Morgue” and “Another Life” are valuable tracks that are only available as analog singles. Of course, we have independently digitized the original version of the highest quality. 2006: The 2006 take that follows the Scandinavian tour (4 songs) during the “Senki” era is also valuable. The Six Maidens have released full live works for almost every album, but the “Senki” tour is an exception. You can enjoy “Different World” and “The Reincarnation Of Benjamin Breeg” that cannot be heard in long live works. Also, “Fear Of The Dark” here was also a valuable take only for analog singles. 2016/2018: In recent years, the number of singles has drastically decreased after the last tour live clip (3 songs) “Senki”. Even if it was released, it became a download, so rare tracks became extinct. However, in 2016, 10 years later, times have changed again. Now live clips are being produced to promote the tour. This work also includes three songs from “THE BOOK OF SOULS WORLD TOUR” and “LEGACY OF THE BEAST WORLD TOUR”. Of course, this is a different take from the live album “THE BOOK OF SOULS: LIVE CHAPTER” (the clip for “Wasted Years” is omitted because it is the same take). This is a treasure collection of 46 songs, 3 hours, 44 minutes, and 27 seconds. In the case of MAIDEN, there are also Reading 82 (10 songs) and Donington 88 (8 songs) from “BBC ARCHIVES”, Dortmund 83 (7 songs) from “THE EARLY DAYS”, and Rio 85 (8 songs) from “Resurrection” DVD. There are also “medium-length live performances that are not full-length” such as songs). Therefore, this work alone is not complete, but it is a great collection of other “live takes of individual songs that cannot be listened to all at once.” A 3-disc set that will instantly enrich your collection with the live version of the super definitive “ULTIMATE STUDIO WORKS: THE DICKINSON YEARS”.
