Description

This is a complete live recording of the April 10th live performance at Yoyogi Olympic Pool, the first day of the 1992 Japan tour accompanying their sixth album “Hard at Play” released in 1991. Huey Lewis & the News were extremely popular in Japan from the late 80s to the early 90s, and in Tokyo they were the final act of the countdown live at the Budokan in 1985, Korakuen Stadium in 1987, and the Tokyo Dome for two consecutive days in 1989, boasting incredible popularity that was unstoppable. Although album sales were starting to decline a little, Huey Lewis & the News continued to release masterpieces consistently and had a strong fan base in Japan. Their Tokyo performance in 1992 was broadcast live from 7pm on the same day. However, due to rain on the day, the start of the concert was delayed, and the TV station played a pre-recorded interview, and the members sang a cappella Chain Gang endlessly as they headed to the stage, making for a fun but difficult opening. The concert started about 12 minutes late. After that, they performed a powerful live performance full of groove, mixing their representative songs with new songs. Huey’s singing, which is reliable and impressive on the huge stage, is full of overwhelming presence. The band’s ironclad ensemble is also amazing. Of course, original members Chris Haynes on guitar and Mario Cipollina on bass were still in the band at this time, and they played great songs everywhere. The Power Of Love was played early as the third song. Many of the new songs from “Hard at Play” that were introduced in large quantities are no longer performed live, making the set interesting. There are plenty of shots of the audience, which also feels very nostalgic, like the early 1990s. Huey Lewis’ performance and charm are amazing, but this is a record that clearly shows the power of Western music during this era. A highly recommended record that you can enjoy for a full two hours. Comes with an original menu. Live at Yoyogi Olympic Pool, Tokyo, Japan 10th April 1992 Broadcast Date: 10th April 1992 (19:00-21:00) (1:58:03) 1. Opening 2. Interview 3. Chain Gang 4. Build Me Up 5.
