Description

Herbie Mann has been building his own style of jazz at Atlantic Records since the 1950s. The music he created is said to be the originator of fusion music. The album that such a man produced in London in 1974 is London Underground. This is a passionate work, with Ahmet Ertegun himself serving as the general producer. Moreover, waiting for them in London were young British talents of the time such as Mick Taylor, Albert Lee, Ian Macdonald, Aynsley Dunbar, and Robbie Mackintosh, all of whom were struggling to blow Mann’s flute. . Mann’s flute, which usually has a strong personality, is subdued on this album, and it sounds like the young Londoner has some momentum. Well, the highlight of this album is definitely Bitch and Layla. Moreover, Mick Taylor and Albert Lee (these two also participated in Mann’s next work Reggae) are divided between left and right, which is a magnificent development. In the former, Albert Lee plays the role of Keith, and in the latter, Taylor and Albert Lee share the parts of Clapton and Duane Allman, making it an irresistible development. He also played Donovan’s Mellow Yellow, Traffic’s Paper Sun, and Procol Harum’s Blue Shadow! The song ends with The Beatles’ You Never Gimme Your Money, which is so thorough! ! ! You’ll be missing out if you don’t listen to this! That’s one piece. The disc used is an original US disc in excellent condition. It seems that it was once released on CD, but it is now out of print and almost impossible to obtain. Taken from US original LP (Atlantic SD 1648)(44:47) 1. Bitch 2. Something In The Air 3. Layla 4. Spin Ball 5. Mellow Yellow 6. A Whiter Shade Of Pale 7. Memphis Spoon Bread & Dover Sole 8. Paper Sun 9. You Never Give Me Your Money
