Description
This 70-minute recording captures the July 1st performance in Glasgow, Scotland, from the 1991 European tour of the legendary band nicknamed the Special Quartet, featuring Herbie Hancock and Wayne Shorter, with additional contributions from Stanley Clarke and Omar Hakim. The recording was taken from a recently unearthed broadcast master and features soundboard recordings from the broadcast. Some improvisations and inter-song segments have been edited for smoother playback, making this a genuine bootleg live album. The performance begins with Jeff Beck’s classic “GOODBYE PORK PIE HAT,” and continues with Hancock’s solo and a Miles Davis number at the end, showcasing the quintessential Special Quartet. In recent years, recordings from subsequent shows in Hamburg, Germany, and at the Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland have also been unearthed, making this a must-listen for all jazz fans.
