This master-quality 1CD release features the elusive first pressing of “MAGAZINE,” a second album originally released in 1977 but quickly recalled due to various circumstances. After their debut, HEART moved from Mushroom Records to Portrait, leaving only their first album, “Dreamboat Annie,” and in 1977 released two albums: “Little Queen” on Portrait and, without HEART’s permission, “MAGAZINE” on Mushroom. Naturally, HEART sued to halt the release of “MAGAZINE,” claiming it was unfinished. The lawsuit was successful, and the first pressing was canceled and recalled, seemingly settling the matter. However, due to HEART’s contractual obligation to release one more album on Mushroom, they ended up releasing a new “MAGAZINE” the following year in 1978, complete with overdubbing, remixes, and track order changes. This first pressing of the “Collected” album features completely different mixes and recording takes than the current 1978 release, as well as two unedited live tracks, making it a highly sought-after collector’s item. Now, finally, it’s finally available on CD. This CD release utilizes state-of-the-art digital transfer technology, eliminating 99% of the scratch noise from the mint-condition vinyl and ensuring faithful reproduction of the original sound without the use of compressors or limiters. Additionally, it includes seven bonus tracks: two previously unreleased singles from the album, three mono mixes only available on the promotional disc, and two tracks from 1978’s “CALIFORNIA JAM 2,” a rare and difficult-to-reissue album.
