Description

A live album that conveys that wonderful “APPETITE FOR DESTRUCTION TOUR” is now available. What is recorded in this work is “Allentown performance on October 17, 1987”. This is the best audience recording. This day has long been known for its famous recordings, but this work is not a copy or remaster of such a previously released record. It is one of the gems that was digitized directly from the original master cassette that was recently discovered by the prestigious “Krw_co”. Of course, the biggest point of this work is its master sound, but first of all it is the show position. Let’s look back at the schedule in 1987, when the phenomenal album “APPETITE FOR DESTRUCTION” was sweeping the world.・June 19th-28th: UK (3 warm-up performances)《APPETITE FOR DESTRUCTION” released on July 21st》・August 1st + 2nd: Los Angeles (2 performances for PV shooting)・August 14th- September 17th: North America #1 (22 undercards of THE CULT) ・September 29th – October 8th: Europe (8 performances) *FASTER PUSSYCAT undercards ・October 16th – November 1st: North America # 2a (13 performances) *EZO is the opening act ←★Here★・November 3rd-29th: North America #2b (MOTLEY CRUE’s 20th show)・December 3rd-31st: North America #2c (Alice Cooper opening act) 16 performances) This is GUNS N’ ROSES in 1987. It’s a familiar schedule, but this time we’ve broken it down into smaller parts, including the opening act. In 1987, right after their debut, they also served as the opening act for THE CULT, MOTLEY CRUE, Alice Cooper, etc., but on the other hand, there were also headline performances with opening acts. The Allentown performance of this work is also one of the headliner performances with Japan’s EZO. This was the second concert of “North America #2a”. This work, which records such a show, is a real and exquisite audience recording. What’s most amazing is the active and powerful core. Even when I listen carefully with headphones, I can barely hear the sound of the hall, and I have no sense of distance. Even the snare, which tends to sound like a guest record, is packed with density, and the bass, which tends to be spoiled, has a solid attack sound and the vibe of the groove is clear. And the guitar is amazing. The contours are strangely clear, and even when two notes are intertwined, they never mix, and you can clearly tell from each note whether Slash or Izzy is playing. Although it is a vivid sound that makes you want to say “it’s like a sound board,” the enthusiasm that rises at each end can only be the audience. There is no strange voice exploding up close, but the cheers that can be heard (faintly) from the gap between the extremely thick performance sounds are definitely insane. The tingling heat sucked in honestly makes dusty rock’n’roll sing. This work permanently preserves the beautiful and realistic original sound as it is, but that is just the sound. The pitch, which was off by about 20% of a semitone in the online sound source, has been corrected to accurately reproduce the live performance at the time. The ultra-realistic and beautiful direct sound depicts a full show filled with the magic of 1987. The basic set at that time was based on the “APPETITE FOR DESTRUCTION” number, and the length was adjusted by combining various covers. Let’s organize today’s set here. APPETITE FOR DESTRUCTION (9 songs)・It’s So Easy/Out Ta Get Me/Mr. Brownstone/My Michelle/Sweet Child O’ Mine/Rocket Queen/Welcome To The Jungle/Paradise City/Nightrain Others (4 songs)・LIVE FROM THE JUNGLE: Move To The City/Knockin’ On Heaven’s Door/Whole Lotta Rosie・GN’R LIES: Mama Kin…and so on. All songs from their debut album except for “Think About You,” “You’re Crazy,” and “Anything Goes” were performed, and covers of Bob Dylan, AC/DC, and AEROSMITH exploded instead. Although there are no particularly rare songs, the set is packed with the purity of 1987. And the magic is the performance that plays out such a set. I can’t put this into words anymore. No matter how many great songs there are after “USE YOUR ILLUSION”, they lacked “something” and fell short of “APPETITE FOR DESTRUCTION.” That “something” is released in the maximum amount and with a purity higher than that of “APPETITE FOR DESTRUCTION.” If you analyze it, it might be a Steven Adler beat. It might be Slash and Izzy’s aesthetic sense, or Axel’s tension that was unique to that time. However, there is something “something” that cannot be created even if all of these things are put together. Is it the proud groove, the luster of the phrases, or the heat…you can witness the scene filled with that awesomeness with the finest sound. It is truly a magical live album. I apologize for not giving a convincing explanation, but I’m sure those who have read this article will understand. If you were exposed to the 1987 recording, I think you could sense that there was something there. This work is one of the culmination of that “something”. This is the magic of 1987. A rare live album that depicts the greatness of GUNS N’ ROSES with the original master cassette released by the prestigious excavator “Krw_co”.
