Description
The “APPETITE FOR DESTRUCTION TOUR” is legendary in the 80s rock scene. This is a superb live album featuring a special rare show. This album features “April 30, 1988”. It was a live performance in Danville, close to the hometown of Axl Rose and Izzy Stradlin. I’m curious about the contents of the “rare show”, but everything is planned. First, let’s check the position of the show.・June 1987: Europe #1 (3 performances in the UK) ・August-September 1987: North America #1 (24 performances) ・September-October 1987: Europe #2 (8 performances) ・October 1987-February 1988: North America #2 (62 performances) ・March-June 1988: North America #3 (30 performances) ←★Here★ ・July-September 1988: North America #4/MONSTERS OF ROCK (40 performances) ・December 1988: Japan + Oceania (9 performances) A total of 176 performances. It was a tour that spread the impact of the phenomenon board “APPETITE FOR DESTRUCTION” that changed music history all over the world for 18 months. The Danville performance of this work was the 103rd performance 10 months after the start of the tour. It was just past the halfway point, and the dignity as a favorite of the era was finally starting to seep out. The quality of this work is unquestionably the finest. It has been a famous audience recording for a long time, but this work has recently reappeared. Although the details are not known, it is probably a master that has been newly digitized, and the performance of the famous recording that has been known as a beautiful recording for a long time has become even clearer. The clarity is also intense. The hot and realistic enthusiasm is definitely an audience recording, but the musical tones that jump straight in are a strong sound that makes poor line recordings out of the question. What is wonderful is how clear it is. Although all the musical tones arrive beautifully, what is particularly amazing is Slash’s guitar and Axl Rose’s singing voice. The entire ensemble attacks as one, and then breaks through from within. The beauty is exquisite, and even the slight vibrato fluctuation and the subtleties of the chameleon voice are super clear. Looking over the entire tour, it is a beautiful sound that I can’t think of anywhere else. Now, on to the main topic. The contents of the live performance revived with such a beautiful sound are “rare”. In fact, the whole show at Danville was enveloped in a strange mood. It was unsettling right from the start. “It’s So Easy” started as usual, but for some reason Axl’s singing voice could not be heard!?!? Of course, if Axl was upset, the start itself would be delayed, and after about 30 seconds, the vocals came in little by little. This alone would not be a problem, but it was strange after that. Axl’s MC and jam were both strangely long. For example, “Honky Tonk Women”. After playing lightly for about a minute, Axl stopped and talked at length. In the intro, Slash strummed Alice Cooper’s “Only Women Bleed”, and as usual, it started to jam, but Axl did not come in. They continued playing for more than three minutes. In the second half of the show, the atmosphere became even more suspicious, and the members were introduced for nearly three minutes. It was hard to tell whether they were in a good mood or not. The singing voice itself is more hyper than usual, but is he annoyed by the equipment trouble? In fact, it seems that Axel’s parents were also at this show, so I don’t think he’s taking any bad drugs… The mood becomes decisive from “Paradise City”. Although he plays to the end, there is a strange sense of desperation, and in the following “Patience” there is no singing at all. According to one passage, Axel got angry at the microphone trouble and got off the stage… Axel did not return, and “Paradise” somehow ended and went to the closing BGM. This work is a document album that depicts the whole story of such a disturbing scene with the best sound, and records the scene after the show in a “What happened?” state. Although it is a rare superb sound even in the “APPETITE FOR DESTRUCTION TOUR”, it is a famous recording that is often overlooked because of the disturbing show. It is a two-disc set that is the best of the best. Guns N’ Roses in 1987-1988 was a band that created a lot of rock and roll around the world. This is a rare album that combines both.
