Description

Introducing the legendary soundboard album, also known as “Stage Version APPETITE FOR DESTRUCTION” and “Complete Version LIVE FROM THE JUNGLE.” This work was recorded at the “June 28, 1987 Marquee Club” performance. It’s a stereo soundboard recording that captures the entire show. Speaking of “GUNS N’ ROSES at the Marquee,” the classic live album “DEFINITIVE MARQUEE 1987” is a classic, but this work is a completely different performance. To understand the situation, let’s first look back at the “Revolutionary Year of 1987” schedule. {January 18th: Production of “APPETITE FOR DESTRUCTION” begins} ・March 16th + 29th: West Hollywood (2 shows) {June 15th: Single “It’s So Easy” released} ・June 19th: Marquee (first overseas performance) *June 22nd: “DEFINITIVE MARQUEE 1987” *June 28th: Marquee ←★This work★ & Official LIVE FROM THE JUNGLE {July 21st: “APPETITE FOR DESTRUCTION” released} ・August 1st – September 17th: North America #1 (24 shows) ・September 29th – October 8th: Europe (8 shows) ・October 16th – December 12th: North America #2a (41 shows) ←※RITZ 1987 (Steven Adler broke his leg, Fred Khoury joined) December 17th-31st: North America #2b (8 shows) ← *DEFINITIVE PASADENA 1987 SBD: A glimpse into the legendary Marquee Club. This is GUNS N’ ROSES in 1987. Following the release of their debut single “It’s So Easy,” they traveled to the UK and performed three showcase gigs at the Marquee Club. This was also their first overseas live performance. While the acclaimed album “DEFINITIVE MARQUEE 1987” was the second performance between shows, this release was the final concert. This show is also famous for being the inspiration for “LIVE FROM THE JUNGLE,” and this release is the complete soundboard. Based on a treasured tape owned by former manager Alan Niven, the missing track “Whole Lotta Rosie” has been supplemented with a separate master. The sound on this album is a completely official, top-notch production, attesting to its provenance. It’s not just high-quality; the finish is subtly official. While the performance is full-bodied and vivid, the echo processing and overdubbed cheers—unbelievable in a marquee—create a stadium-like spectacle. While not exactly meticulously crafted, it’s clearly different from a direct-to-record recording. The rawness, reminiscent of a single B-side or promo, is reminiscent of 1987. Of course, this is the pinnacle of their sound. Using the best known masters, it’s also uniquely mastered. The pitch, which was high in the original sound, has been adjusted to precisely capture the on-site sound as faithfully as possible. This unique, official sound, perfectly captures the scorching stage of LIVE FROM THE JUNGLE, a truly complete version. The set is similar but not identical to the previous day’s “DEFINITIVE MARQUEE 1987,” so let’s compare and organize it. Appetite for Destruction (8 songs): Welcome to the Jungle / Out Ta Get Me / Rocket Queen (*) / Nightrain / My Michelle / It’s So Easy (★) / Mr. Brownstone / Paradise City (5 songs); GN’R Rides: You’re Crazy / Move to the City / Mama Kin (*); Others: Don’t Cry (*) / Whole Lotta Rosie (★*) / Knockin’ On Heaven’s Door (★) *Note: “★” indicates the take featured on the official “LIVE FROM THE JUNGLE” album. “*” indicates tracks not heard on “DEFINITIVE MARQUEE 1987.” The final day, symbolized by being officially recorded during the legendary three-day marquee, is a masterpiece. This release is the pinnacle of full soundboard recordings. This is a superb live album, a rare and exceptional experience, where the band’s potential, fresh from the creation of “APPETITE FOR DESTRUCTION,” exploded with excitement on stage for their first overseas performance. This stereo soundboard recording from the “Marquee Club” performance on June 28, 1987, is the complete version of the official “LIVE FROM THE JUNGLE” performance, based on a treasured tape owned by former manager Alan Niven, with the missing track “Whole Lotta Rosie” supplemented by a different master. This is a completely official-quality, superb live album, where the band’s potential, fresh from the creation of “APPETITE FOR DESTRUCTION,” exploded with excitement on stage for their first overseas performance. The high pitch has been corrected (a first time the intro has been recorded at the correct pitch), and the sound quality itself differs from the previous master. Incredible sound quality!
