Description

This is a reprint of the super-excellent live set that only those in the know know. This work contains “July 14 + 15, 2007: Makuhari Messe performance”. This is a 4-disc set that recorded the full set of two days directly from the original DAT master. The “CHINESE DEMOCRACY TOUR” lasted for 11 years, and there were 9 performances in Japan three times in 2002, 2007, and 2009, but this work was a highlight performance of the 2007 solo tour. First, let’s check the positions from the three dates of the visit to Japan.・August 17, 2002: Chiba Marine Stadium・August 18, 2002: WTC Open Air Stadium – 5 years later -・July 14, 2007: Makuhari Messe [Discs 1 and 2 of this work]・July 15, 2007: Makuhari Messe [Discs 3 and 4 of this work]・July 17, 2007: Nippon Gaishi Hall・July 18, 2007: Nippon Budokan・July 21, 2007: Intex Osaka – 2 and a half years later -・December 16, 2009: Kyocera Dome Osaka・December 19, 2009: Tokyo DomeThe above are the performances in Japan on the “CHINESE DEMOCRACY TOUR”. In 2002, they appeared at Summer Sonic, and this work was their first solo concert in 14 years since “USE YOUR ILLUSION WORLD TOUR”. As mentioned at the beginning, this work is a famous recording that only those in the know know about. In fact, at the time, only 50 sets were released under the title “WHAT A CROWD!”, and it was a limited edition that disappeared from the market in the blink of an eye. However, the quality is so excellent that it is hard to believe that it was a limited edition. Both performances are original masters by the same recorder, but it is amazing to go “like a sound board”. Although it is clear that it is an audience recording from the vivid cheers, the clarity of the singing voice / performance, the thickness, and the closeness are almost line recordings. In fact, even a specialist magazine at the time praised it as “an audience recording, but the sound quality is the best”. In other words, it is not “as an audience recording”, but rather “even though it is an audience”. When it comes to the pyro that explodes in “Live And Let Die” etc., it is so real that you can even feel a hot blast (if you listen to it with headphones, it will really freak you out). Despite how vivid it is, the “ringing” is beautiful, and the groove and fat feel run through the entire work without interruption. It’s a superb sound that is rare even by modern standards, let alone 10 years ago. And the performance is also wonderful, which is appropriate for that sound. Axel was also in high spirits from start to finish, repeatedly chanting “What a crowd!” (the origin of the old title). Apparently, some people fainted at the scene due to the excessive enthusiasm, and after “Sweet Child O’Mine”, Axel made an emergency appeal through a female interpreter. Let me write it out for you. “Good evening! Can you hear me, everyone? Can you please step back a little? You’ve come a little too far forward, so can you just step back a little? Well, I want you to enjoy yourself, so I don’t want anyone to get hurt, so please step back a little!” Apparently, more than 10,000 spectators stepped back at once in response to this appeal. Axel was surprised by this Japanese-like discipline, and said, “Thank you. You are amazing!” This honest discipline may have made a deep impression on someone who has caused trouble all over the world. I don’t know if it was because of that, but the show continued with enthusiasm, and Axl started singing “Don’t Cry” (for the first time in 14 years!), which is usually an instrumental song. At that time, GUNS N’ ROSES was mocked as “Axl’s solo project”, but it’s not bad that a group of masters who surpass the original members performed a historic masterpiece. Moreover, the main character is undoubtedly the great singer/performer: Axl Rose. This work is a vacuum-packed two performances of a rare and gorgeous show in rock history. Good sound, good songs, good performance… that’s all there is to it. It’s one of the best in Japan… no, it’s one of the best high-quality sounds on the tour, but it’s a great recording among the great recordings that only a limited number of 50 people knew. Now that the original three members are together, it’s a masterpiece that you can immerse yourself in the wonderful sound and show. We will deliver 4 hours, 34 minutes and 8 seconds of paradise to your fingertips.
