Description

Supreme British voice and rare genius guitar crazy. Greg Lake & Gary Moore in 1981 gave us a unique yet wonderful collaboration in each other’s careers. The full live album is a new discovery. This work includes “December 5, 1981 New York Performance”. This is a superb audience recording vacuum-packed from one night at the famous traditional venue “Palladium”. Speaking of Greg & Gary, the official version “GREG LAKE IN CONCERT” that includes the “KING BISCUIT FLOWER HOUR” broadcast is famous, but although this work is a separate performance, it is also officially involved. In order to explain the circumstances around that, let’s first check the show’s position from the schedule at that time.・August 30th: Reading Festival performance [“GREG LAKE” released on September 25th] ・October 9th – 30th: UK (18 performances) ← *Official live album ・November 20th – December 10th : North America (9 performances) ←★Here★ This is Greg & Gary in 1981. Greg also released his second album “MANOEUVRES” in 1983, but there was no live performance. He did not perform a solo concert until 2005, 24 years later. Under such circumstances, the Palladium performance of this work is the 8th performance of the final “North America” tour. In fact, although the Royal Oak performance on the final day (December 10th) was announced, there is no confirmation that it actually took place, and it is possible that this was his last solo concert in the 1980s. There is also. It is also known that such shows have been recorded for a long time. Particularly famous are the official editions, which include Greg’s official rare track collection “FROM THE UNDERGROUND”, “Retribution Drive” and “21st Century Schizoid Man”, “FROM THE UNDERGROUND VOL.II: DEEPER INTO THE MINE”, and “Fanfare For The”. Common Man” is included. Furthermore, I was able to listen to “Lucky Man” and “In The Court Of The Crimson King” on our “TORONTO 1981 (Virtuoso 330)”. I think this kind of take is familiar to collectors, but this work is the complete version! This work is like a “sound board”…or should I say, it is the super high quality sound that is actually used on the official edition. Of course, it is not a collection of previously released takes, but the ultimate product digitized directly from the original master. I don’t know what generation of master the official version used, but it’s a younger generation than that, and the ultra-excellent sound world like that FM broadcast is even more vivid and fresh. The super beautiful sound that was approved by the official has been revived with a quality that exceeds the official. If you don’t know the official version or the previous releases, it’s a bit difficult to understand, but for those who don’t know… it’s like an official work. It seems that it was recorded in the front seat near the center aisle, but the zero sense of distance, the neatly separated stereo feeling, and the wonderful details make it hard to believe that it was an audience recording. Even though it is not a rare tour without an official version, and there is actually an official soundboard “GREG LAKE IN CONCERT”, the only word that comes to mind is “just like official”. It is such an incredible recording. What is depicted with such transcendent sound is a full show in which Guitar Crazy plays a group of masterpieces that remain in rock history. As mentioned earlier, this recording has become partially known, so let’s organize it here, distinguishing between the first appearance and the others. KING CRIMSON (2 songs), 21st Century Schizoid Man/The Court Of The Crimson King EL&P (4 songs), Fanfare For The Common Man/Welcome Back (★)/Lucky Man/C’est La Vie (★) Solo and others ( 5 songs) ・Nuclear Attack (★) / The Lie (★) / Retribution Drive / Love You Too Much (★) ・Cover: You’ve Really Got A Hold On Me (THE MIRACLES: ★) *Note: “★” The mark is the first take. …and it looks like this. Of the 11 songs in the full set, 6 songs, more than half of which appear for the first time. Moreover, “C’est La Vie”, which could not be heard on the official version “GREG LAKE IN CONCERT”, can also be enjoyed with the best sound. This song starts with Greg’s acoustic guitar as the main part, and Gary just adds some subtle phrases using his volume playing technique…but then it explodes from the middle! The passion and exoticism that is similar to “Spanish Guitar” overflows, transforming it into a completely different song. After that, Greg’s vocals bring back the original line, and as if inspired by Gary’s brilliant melody, he gradually charms us with new expressions. You can enjoy the famous performance that clearly shows the significance of the two people working together with the best sound just like the official work. Of course, Rush’s other songs are also worth listening to. Unfortunately, it seems that they did not perform “Paris Promenade” on the North American tour, but this super famous song in progressive rock history has been dyed metallic and exploded. At the time, there were some objections from progressive rock fans, but KING CRIMSON’s heaviness was the source of metal, and EL&P’s exuberance was also similar to hard rock. Gary’s version, which greatly enhances the aggression and exhilaration contained in the song, is still vivid. For Greg, it’s a battle that sparks with his guitar hero, and for Gary, it’s a collaboration with a skilled singer. A group of historical masterpieces written by a genius were reimagined by a genius guitarist…It was not just a spectacular collaboration between celebrities, but a joint with true musical meaning. A masterpiece of a live album that allows you to enjoy the full show with super-excellent sound that surpasses the official one. (Remaster Memo) Corrected pitch about 30% higher than a semitone.
