Description
This is a must-listen edition that records the 1976 Gil Evans Orchestra live performance in which Locand Kirk participated as a guest (2 songs) in high quality from the broadcast sound source. The biggest highlight of this album is that Rahsaan Roland Kirk makes a guest appearance on Orchestra, even though there are only two songs! ! Moreover, they are playing “Theme For The Eulipions”. Kirk, who had fallen and was partially paralyzed the previous year, was able to play without any respite, which was a highlight. The other songs without Kirk are very valuable, partly because Gil Evans’ live albums from the 70’s are rare in the first place. Orchestra performances from the 1970s are rougher than those from the 80s, but that’s why they exude a sense of tension here and there, making them very thrilling. The three songs on this CD contain their characteristics at their best. Live at Westfalenhallen, Dortmund, Germany 10/30/1976 1.Intro / Thoroughbred 2.Intro / Rhythm A-Ning 3.Theme For The Eulipions 4.Freedom 5.Priestess
