Description
“THREE SIDES LIVE ENCORE TOUR 1982” is one of the best-kept secrets in the history of GENESIS. The only valuable soundboard album is now available. As the title suggests, this tour is a promotional tour for the official live album “THREE SIDES LIVE.” However, due to the short schedule, most of the sound recordings were limited audience recordings. Among them, only one professional record remained, which was an exception among exceptions. That is this work. This is a soundboard recording of “August 26, 1982 Saratoga Springs Performance”. Speaking of 1982, it was also a time when Mike Rutherford and Phil Collins’ solo activities became active. First, let’s check the situation from a panoramic view of the world tour. [“THREE SIDES LIVE” released on June 4th]・August 1st-29th: North America (23 performances)←★Here★・September 3rd-16th: Europe (10 performances)《September 7th “ ACTING VERY STRANGE” released》・September 18th-30th: UK (12 performances)・October 2nd: SIX OF THE BEST《“THE HELLO, I MUST BE GOING!” released on November 5th》《November “THE HELLO, I MUST BE GOING TOUR” starts on the 21st》 This is how 1982 went. Phil’s first solo tour, “THE HELLO, I MUST BE GOING TOUR,” was scheduled for the winter of 1982, and the summer/autumn was devoted to the “THREE SIDES LIVE ENCORE TOUR.” The Saratoga Springs performance of this work is in the middle. This was the 20th concert of the “North American” leg. This work, which records such a show, is a soundboard with an amazing sense of closeness that can only be achieved by line. Apparently it wasn’t a broadcast, and it’s hard to say “it’s official!” due to the rough mix and sound, but that’s why it’s closer than the official product that reproduces the concert feeling. You will be struck by the immersive feeling of being one with the band, from Phil’s singing voice to every note of every instrument. It is a feeling that the brain itself has become a reproducing machine without being converted into air vibrations, and it is an exceptional synchronization feeling even with many sound boards. The show drawn with that sound is similar to “THREE SIDES LIVE” but different. Despite the promotion of the live album, the set was significantly changed and included many famous songs that could not be heard in the official live version. And the additional selections are really delicious. There are some “ABACAB” numbers like “Man On The Corner” and “Who Dunnit?”, but everything else is the rush of the progressive rock era. “Dance On A Volcano,” “Supper’s Ready,” “Los Endos,” “The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway,” and “I Know What I Like” are just the names of the songs that make you drool. Among them, the big song “Supper’s Ready” is a must-listen. After Steve Hackett left, it was only a partial performance, but here it is a full performance of over 24 minutes. Moreover, the story of ROMEO and JULIET is included at the beginning. Actually, this is a super treasure. This tour is the only time that “Supper’s Ready” was played in full after becoming three people, and as mentioned above, this work is the only sound board of this tour. In other words, it is a full sound board of “Supper’s Ready” with only one take in the late GENESIS. In fact, the core medley in the middle is “Cinema Show” fading out and the beginning of “Afterglow” missing. For that reason, it is not a complete recording of the full show, but the medley has the same composition as “THREE SIDES LIVE”, so it is not a big problem. Rather, it is a listening experience where you can enjoy almost the entire view of the valuable tour that lasts more than 2 hours on the sound board. And then there’s the ultimate full-length “Supper’s Ready.” “THREE SIDES LIVE ENCORE TOUR” is not only the only soundboard, but also the only valuable live album in the entire history of GENESIS.
