Description
GENESIS entered the multi-platinum era with “ABACAB,” which Hugh Padgham also participated in the production team, and the live album “THREE SIDES LIVE” also made it into the top 10 in the United States in 1982. A live album that allows you to fully experience the scene is now available. This work is absorbed in “Pisa performance on September 6, 1982.” It is a superb audience recording of the appearance at “Festa de l’Unita” held in the Italian city famous for its leaning tower. This event was also an unusual festival, a social democratic festival hosted by the Italian Communist Party (now hosted by the Democratic Party after the dissolution). Also, speaking of 1982, the historic reunion event SIX OF THE BEST was realized, and Phil Collins’ solo work “THE HELLO, I MUST BE GOING!” was a big hit and his busy schedule accelerated at once. First, let’s look back on the steps and check the position of the show. {June 4th: “THREE SIDES LIVE” released} August 1st-29th: North America (23 performances) September 3rd-16th: Europe (10 performances) ←★here★ September 18th-30th: UK (12 performances) October 2nd: SIX OF THE BEST {November 5th: “THE HELLO, I MUST BE GOING!” released} {November 21st: “THE HELLO, I MUST BE GOING Tour” starts} This is GENESIS in 1982. They will run through America/Europe in about two months, and among them, the Pisa performance of this work was the third concert of the continental Europe “Europe” leg. This work recorded at such a site is an exquisite beautiful recording. It has been digitized from the 1st Gene cassette, and its fresh and crystal clear clarity is wonderful. There is no sense of closeness that would be mistaken for a sound board, and the tone is full of the audience’s likeness, but that is not a flaw but a beauty. The faint sound spreads without distortion, and the core that penetrates the center is clear. Phil’s Italian MC can be clearly heard word by word. Speaking of “THREE SIDES LIVE ENCORE Tour”, it reigns as the masterpiece “MAN ON THE HAMMERSMITH”, but the personality of this work is also quite similar. It seems that the strength of the push that pushes even the fine parts is half a step … no, 1/4 step short, but that is only a difference in preference, and it is not inferior. If we compare it to a Japanese recording, it is a beautiful sound reminiscent of the prestigious Kinney who pursued “beauty because of the audience” (of course it is not actually different). The beautiful sound is drawn in a full show that is different from the official “THREE SIDES LIVE”. Although it is a little late, I have never compared the sets before, so let’s organize it here. 5/4-person era・Foxtrot: Supper’s Ready (★)/Watcher Of The Skies・The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway (★)・Trick of the Tale: Dance On A Volcano (★)/Los Endos (★)・Others: Medley (In The Cage/The Cinema Show/The Colony Of Slippermen/Afterglow)/Drums Duet (★)3-person era・And the 3 that remained: Follow You Follow Me・Duke: Behind The Lines/Misunderstanding/Turn It On Again・Abacab: Dodo/Lurker/Abacab (★)/Man On The Corner (★)/Who Dunnit? (★)※Note: Songs marked with “★” cannot be heard on “THREE SIDES LIVE”. …And so on. “THREE SIDES LIVE” was also an edited album made up of multiple performances, but compared to the standard set of the “ABACAB Tour”, it’s nice to see the return of classics such as “Follow You Follow Me”, “Supper’s Ready” and “Watcher Of The Skies”. Also, speaking of the “THREE SIDES LIVE ENCORE Tour”, there is also the only soundboard album “SARATOGA SPRINGS 1982”, but it’s also delicious to be able to seamlessly enjoy the “In The Cage” medley, which was cut even in that masterpiece. “THREE SIDES LIVE ENCORE Tour” is a hidden sound source where only SIX OF THE BEST is attracting attention. This is a live album where you can experience the standard set, which is difficult to convey, with the best sound. This is a one-off that allows you to enjoy the beautiful sound and full set that only the audience can enjoy. The best audience recording of the “Pisa performance on September 6, 1982”. The sound digitized from the 1st generation cassette is fresh and crystal clear. The gentle sound spreads without distortion, and the core that penetrates the center is clear. If we compare it to a Japanese recording, it is a beautiful recording reminiscent of the prestigious Kinney, who pursued “beauty only possible for the audience”. You can experience the best full show with classics such as “Follow You Follow Me”, “Supper’s Ready”, and “Watcher Of The Skies”, which were not available on the “ABACAB Tour”.
