Description
Just before his death in 2010, Gary Moore was aiming to return to hard rock. A masterpiece live album that can be witnessed on the first day of his return is now available. What is infused into this work is “May 22, 2010 Trondheim performance”. This is a superb audience recording from a performance at Norway’s leading music festival “TRONDHEIM ROCK FESTIVAL”. Speaking of 2010, Gary’s last performance in Japan after 21 years is also memorable, but at that time it was a blues style. First, let’s look back on the “last year” when he switched from blues to hard rock.・February 19th + April 6th: UK (2 performances) *April 10th: Hov (THE PERILS) ・April 16th + 18th: Russia (2 performances) ・April 22nd-30th: Japan /Korea (6 performances)《Total change to HR band》・May 22nd: Appearance at Trondheim Rock Festival ←★This work★・June 11th: Appearance at Swedish Rock Festival・July 3rd-August 14th: Europe #1 (10 performances) ← *Official LIVE AT MONTREUX *September 23rd: Brighton (GYPSY AND THE WOLF) October 7th-30th: Europe #2 (12 performances) *Note: ・ indicates solo performances , “*” indicates guest participation in other bands, etc. This is Gary Moore in 2010. The following year, in 2011, he passed away before he could perform on stage, so this was also Gary’s last musical activity. In fact, the Japan performance was the last of the blues style that continued for 20 years. After leaving Japan, he performed once in Korea, then joined up with his ally Neil Carter, and the band was completely replaced. The “TRONDHEIM ROCK FESTIVAL” of this work was the first show of Lee’s return to HR. The sound of this work, which records such a turning point, is exactly “The Outdoors”. “TRONDHEIM ROCK FESTIVAL” will be held on an outdoor market stage, with no walls or ceilings to reflect sound. Therefore, there is no noise that causes fogging, and the output sound emitted by the PA is directly picked up. Of course, there are concerns about the sound being far away or being carried away by the wind, but with this work, you don’t have to worry about that. Although it is not close enough to be mistaken for a sound board in terms of tone, its crisp stability and super delicate details are at a level where it would be no surprise to mistake it for a sound board. The tight sound depicts the return of “Hard Rockin’ Gary”, whose 20 years of time are blown away at once. The set may be the same as the official video “LIVE AT MONTREUX 2010″, but since this is a good opportunity, let’s organize it here. Irish HR era (6 songs)・Out in the Field: Military Man/Out In The Fields・Wild Frontier: Over The Hills And Far Away/Thunder Rising/Johnny Boy・After the War: Blood Of Emeralds New songs (3 songs)・Days of Heroes/Where Are You Now?/Oh Wild One Others (4 songs + α)・Back on the Streets: Parisienne Walkways・We Won’t Moor! :So Far Away/Empty Rooms・Still Got The Blues :Still Got The Blues/Walking By Myself…And so it goes like this. Even though it is called “HR Return”, it is not a self-denial of the blues route, and the rock numbers that have been suppressed for a long time are on sale, including the representative songs “Still Got The Blues” and “Walking By Myself.” Even though it’s hard rock, it’s clearly aimed at the “Irish” era, not before “VICTIMS OF THE FUTURE” or THIN LIZZY, and from the single “Out In The Fields” with Phil to “AFTER THE WAR”. The division is the core. The three new songs that attracted the most attention at the time were “Days of Heroes”, “Where Are You Now?”, and “Oh Wild One”. This is a new song for a rock album that was never produced, and the folk song-like melody evokes a faint melancholy in an Irish style. Of course, it could be heard in the video work “LIVE AT MONTREUX 2010”, but this work is truly the world premiere. You can witness the new first step with the best sound, including the reaction of the on-site fans who hold their breath. In the end, Gary’s last “Irish HR era” ended after just 24 stages. This is a masterpiece of a live album that allows you to fully experience that precious scene with the best sound. Gary was 58 years old at the time, and could have still blossomed as an HR guitarist. This 2-disc set shows the unwavering performance and makes you want to experience it in Japan. The best audience recording of the first performance “May 22, 2010 TRONDHEIM ROCK FESTIVAL” that returned to HR. The direct feeling of the core with zero echo, which is typical of an outdoor venue, is tremendous, and the solid sense of stability and super delicate details are also exquisite. While focusing on the trilogy from the singles “Out In The Fields” to “AFTER THE WAR,” the three new songs “Days of Heroes,” “Where Are You Now?,” and “Oh Wild One” are also Irish-style folk songs. You can experience a full show that returns to the melancholy hard rock of wind melodies with the best sound.
