Description
Live performances during the “Victims Of The Future” period were held until the spring of 1984, with a four-piece lineup consisting of Ian Paice, who had been with us since the previous year, and new members Neil Carter and Craig Gruber. A vigorous promotional tour was organized. After that, Pace left Deep Purple to reorganize, and with the addition of drummer Bobby Chouinard, the band went on a large-scale US tour from May to July, opening for Rush. (Bobby passed away in 1997. His drumming can be heard on the first three songs of the official live album “We Want Moore” (Detroit 6/23), etc.) After returning to England, Gary and his friends Bob Daisley will be on bass and there will be 5 performances including Monsters of Rock from England and Germany. Furthermore, at the end of that year, they held a special Irish tour with Phil Lynott also participating, but the warm-up gig before the 4 performances was recorded in December in this work. This is the London Marquee Club performance on the 12th. Only in this London performance and Ireland tour, the drummer was Roxy Music’s master Paul Thompson, and this edition allows you to listen to the valuable lineup performance that was performed only 5 times. This is the first time that a live show from this period has been made into a CD, and you can listen to Gary’s first stage performance since the German version of Monsters of Rock in the summer. The sound quality is the highest class audience recording! Moreover, all songs were recorded in just 80 minutes. The set is directly from the “Victims Of The Future” tour that was also heard in Japan, and there are no rare songs, but hearing Gary Band’s play in December 1984 is valuable and a must-see for fans. . At first, you can hear the analog hiss characteristic of tape, but the sound quality gradually improves, and as you listen, you realize that this is a take that was recorded with an amazing sound. There is almost no clutter in the sound, and the punch and separation are among the best. Since no bad equalization has been applied, you can hear the sound of the master itself, and if you are a live tape enthusiast, you will definitely listen to Gary’s passionate performance while feeling “This is already the best!!” The whole band is wonderful, but when Gary enters solo time, it is recorded surprisingly beautifully and powerfully, allowing fans to have a blissful time. The band must have taken time to rehearse well before the tour. Although it is Paul’s first stage with the Gary band, there is nothing dangerous about the drums, and throughout you can hear the really heavy drumming that is typical of a powerful hitter and a veteran. (Paul also participated in the recording of his next album, “Run For Cover.” His credits include Out of My System and Nothing to Lose.) The small venue’s marquee cabin atmosphere is complemented by powerful, raw drum sounds. The amount of hitting is just the right match. Bob’s bass line is also powerful, and the way the drums and bass lead the whole song sounds reliable. Gary’s play, which plays vigorously with a strong rhythm play in the background, is a masterpiece from beginning to end. Gary also seemed to be in a good mood for his first live performance in a while in front of enthusiastic fans, and after the Back On The Streets performance, Gary excitedly shouted, “Thank you very much, Marquee! Good Night!” It seems that the guitar had trouble during the encore Nuclear Attack, and that situation is also realistically recorded. At the end, the MC says “From the G Force album” and Rockin’ & Rollin’ is played with a strong groove. Gary seems to be playing like crazy. The interaction with the London fans at the end is full of fun and has a natural, club-like atmosphere. Nuclear Attack and Rockin’ & Rollin’ will no longer be played, so they are valuable in that sense, and above all, the final performance at the Marquee Club, where many of Gary’s early performances were held, is deeply moving. . A super high quality, must-listen board for fans! ! Live at The Marquee Club, London, UK 12th December 1984 TRULY AMAZING SOUND 1. Rockin’ Every Night 2. Wishing Well 3. Murder In The Skies 4.
