Description
Fleetwood Mac’s first visit to Japan in 1977 should be considered on par with the first visits of groups such as Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd, as it was realized at the height of their fame with the album “Rumors”. At the same time, it was extremely groundbreaking that not only the band itself but also their staff took on the challenge of a “serious” visit to Japan. The greatest achievement was the groundbreaking setting of hanging PA speakers on the roof of the Budokan. The Budokan, which was not yet compatible with the acoustics of rock concerts, produced an unprecedented live sound. Due to this groundbreaking acoustic setting, the audience recordings capturing Mac’s first visit to the Budokan in Japan were lined up with high-quality sound on average, but this was also due to the benefit of hanging speakers from the ceiling. Many high-quality Mac Budokan sound sources have been released so far, but this completely first-time audience master also has excellent sound quality. The providers are Dave Mason, who was released at the same time, and Taper, who was in the limelight for Billy Joel’s masterpiece “TOKYO 1978”. He also recorded at the Budokan. As for the Budokan, the CD & DVD set “BUDOKAN 1977 FINAL NIGHT” was released recently with a superb audience that was close to the soundboard, but thanks to the previous acoustics, the sound quality of this new sound source is also really wonderful. In terms of the power of the soundboard-like sound image, “BUDOKAN 1977 FINAL NIGHT” wins, but the sound image here is also quite on and of a quality that seems to be cool. And unlike “BUDOKAN 1977~”, there is a big advantage in that there are no foreign customers talking nearby. The only cut was from the ending of “You Make Loving Fun” to the beginning of “I’m So Afraid” due to a cassette change, but this was adjusted using “BUDOKAN 1977~”. Mac’s 1977 tour, which was his peak, has recently been unearthed as a series of superb sound sources such as “L.A. FORUM 1977 2ND NIGHT: MIKE MILLARD ORIGINAL MASTER TAPES” and “SIN CITY 77: JON WIZARDO MASTER CASSETTES”, but this sound source is not inferior to them even though it is a mono recording. Rather, when you listen to this Budokan performance, you will be reminded that Mac, who had been performing high-quality performances throughout the tour, had finally reached the level of completion in a foreign land where he arrived at the end of the 1977 tour. After all, the sound quality is very good, so the solid performance feels very real. A new superb audience was born from the legendary night when high-quality performances were played at the sold-out Budokan in 1977. Even if you already own “BUDOKAN 1977 FINAL NIGHT”, you will definitely enjoy this, and this is a debut sound source that can be confidently recommended to a wide range of people, from beginners to enthusiasts.
