Description

Eric Clapton’s live album, which was supposed to be “official”, will be released in its original form! When it comes to Clapton’s official solo live albums, there are a lot of them, given his long career. “RAINBOW CONCERT” in 1973, “LIVE IN LONG BEACH” (GIVE ME STRENGTH SUPER DELUXE EDITION) in 1974, “LIVE IN LONDON” (461 OCEAN BOULEBARD DELUXE EDITION), “E.C. WAS HERE” in 1975, “E.C. WAS HERE” in 1977 “LIVE AT HAMMERSMITH”, “CROSSROADS 2 LIVE IN THE SEVENTIES” from 1974 to 1978, “JUST ONE NIGHT” in 1980, “24 NIGHTS” in 1991, “UNPLUGGED” in 1992, and “CROSSROADS 2 LIVE IN THE SEVENTIES” in 2001. ONE MORE CAR, ONE MORE RIDER.” Looking at it this way, there were no live albums released in the 10 years of the 80s and the 8 years of the 90s. And this album was a live album from the 1986 & 1987 tour, which was originally planned to fill the gap between the former. This time, we obtained the final master before release from a person with a strong network in Clapton’s home country of England, and achieved a release on a perfect stereo soundboard. During this period, Clapton released the album “AUGUST”, and its sharply honed sound and play gave the impression of a “new Clapton”. Backing up was big name or elite session men such as Nathan East (b), Greg Fillinganes (kbd), Phil Collins (dr), and Steve Ferrone (dr). What’s more, Dire Straits guitarist Mark Knopfler, who was a huge hit with Money For Nothing at the time, and Robert Cray, an up-and-coming blues guitarist, made special appearances in this content. There was no doubt that it would become a hot topic at the time. Of course, even though Further On Up the Road was recorded in two takes and fit on 2CDs, I wonder why Cocaine and Same Old Blues were not included, and whether it was really planned to be released in this form. There is also a hugging part. However, if you imagine that Clapton may have been thinking of surprising others, it is like a historical study and is fun. It’s worth noting that this was the first time he was going to include Layla on his live album. It is thought that Clapton had such confidence in this song and the band of this period. Phil Collins, who played the drums and produced “AUGUST” himself, participated in all performances and gave an energetic performance, but if you listen closely, you can hear (1) and (4). Drum sounds can be heard from the right and center channels. In other words, both performances were twin drums with S. Ferrone. and special participation by M. Knopfler and R. Clay. Bootlegs of each performance included in this album have also been released, but I think it would be a different experience to listen to the content that Clapton had in mind as an official live album. If you show this package to a rock fan and say, “This is Clapton’s official unearthed live album,” they will surely trust you. A fantastic live album buried in Clapton’s career, delivered with perfect quality in both content and packaging. Please take this opportunity to enjoy it.
