Description

We will deliver the powerful performance of Eric Clapton’s “August” period with the original master obtained exclusively. What is included is the complete master version of the best stereo audience recording of the two-day performance in Manchester, England on January 3 and 4, 1987. These two performances were set up as a warm-up for the first continuous performance at the Royal Albert Hall, which Clapton had made an annual tradition since this year, and were the precursor to the European tour. Although there are already released versions of both performances, this work is a high quality first release master obtained from a person living in the UK on both days, and it is recorded with a very clear and good sound balance. Although the sound source on the 3rd is the same source as the previously released version, it is a completely different master that contains a long opening part before the performance, and the sound source on the 4th is of a high level that cannot be compared to the sound source currently uploaded on the Internet. It’s the sound quality. The 3rd master has the disadvantage that only the beginning of the opening number is in monaural phase, and like the previous release, the beginning of Holy Mother is slightly missing, but it is a clearer stereo recording than the previous release. Contains the entire story. Also, on this day, the rare Take A Chance is being played, making it a very important sound source for collectors. In addition, the sound quality of the 4th sound source can only be described as wonderful, surpassing the online sound source and the already released version produced directly based on it. There was a tape change during the MC before Same Old Blues, but that part has been seamlessly connected at our store. Furthermore, on both days, the pitch, which had been slightly distorted due to aging, was accurately corrected. This tour attracted attention as it included Mark Knopfler of Dire Straits, with whom Clapton had been friends since 1985, as an official member. From the opening number to the entire album, you can hear Knopfler’s obbligato with melancholy tones and phrases that can be said to be his true essence. The combination of Clapton and Knopfler shows a perfect fit that surpasses that of any second guitarist in history. Clapton showed respect for Knopfler and featured him on his big hit Money For Nothing in the encore. In this song, there is also a funny scene where Clapton also takes a solo. With the addition of Knopfler, there is no doubt that the songs on the album “August” have become tighter, and the best performances by the best musicians of our time are fully captured. In this work, I would like you to pay particular attention to the superb sound quality of the 4th, which will be released for the first time, and how Clapton plays with the bright tone of Fender’s custom model Stratocaster (pewter gray), which he started using from this time.
