Description

We will release another excellent sound source of Eric Clapton! This album is a complete recording of Clapton’s performance at Osaka Stadium on November 5th, the final day of the Japan tour from his 1988 world tour commemorating his 25th anniversary since his debut, in the highest sound quality. Stereo Audience Master. This is a sound source that our store once released under the title “SILVER BEAUTY”, but the master of that title, which originally had ultra-high sound quality, has been significantly upgraded by professional-grade remastering work that our store is proud of. Therefore, we have come up with a new and reborn release. For remastering, we borrowed the original master directly from the taper himself who had made this recording at the time, and remastered it based on the first generation tape. That’s why the upgrade level is incredible! The original sound was originally of super high quality, but there was room for improvement in the reverberation of the guitar and vocals, so we made adjustments. In particular, regarding the guitar sound, all phrases are clearer than the previously released version due to the effect of reducing reverberation. The sharpness of the phrases emitted from the signature model prototype that Clapton used at the time (a custom Strat with a pewter gray finish and a lace sensor pickup) was refined. Just by listening to the opening, you’ll think, “Is this a soundboard recording?” If it weren’t for the cheers from the audience on the left and right channels, it would be a super powerful sound that could be called a sound board. Therefore, this edition can be declared the definitive version of the 1988 Japan tour and audience recording. Now, regarding this day’s performance, let’s first take a look at where it was in the 25th anniversary tour that took place this year. ・January 22, 1988 – February 7, 1988: UK tour including 9 consecutive performances at the Royal Albert Hall (Mark Knopfler participated) <<April 18, 1988: Anthology box set “CROSSROADS” released>・June 5-6, 1988: Performed with his own band at the “Prince’s Trust Concert” held at the Royal Albert Hall (Knopfler and Elton John participated) ・June 8, 1988- 9th: Rehearsal with Dire Straits at Brixton Academy ・June 11, 1988: Appeared with Dire Straits in “Nelson Mandela 70th Birthday Concert” ・July 2, 1988: England, Appeared at the charity event “Picnic Concert” held in Surrey (Members of Genesis and others participated) ・September 1st – October 8th, 1988: U.S. tour ・October 11th, 1988: Club in New York , Participated in Jack Bruce’s concert at the Bottom Line October 31, 1988 – November 5, 1988: Japan tour ←★Here★ November 28, 1988: Performed at the Hard Rock Cafe in London Appeared at a charity event. Performed on stage with Jeff Beck, Mitch Mitchell and others ・December 23, 1988: Participated in Gary Brooker’s band Stiletto Shoes’ gig in Dunsfold, Surrey, England. Celebrated their 25th anniversary since their debut. Along with the release of the anthology 4CD & 6LP work “CROSSROADS”, a large-scale world tour was held to thank the fans who have supported us over the years, and in addition to that, it was a year in which we energetically participated in numerous events and stages. I can say that. This tour was carried out with Clapton’s intention to conclude the commemorative tour in Japan, but due to the schedule and venue, it was one of the few performances booked at a baseball field class (Tokyo, Nagoya, (only 4 times in 3 cities in Osaka). On top of that, I’m happy to say that Mark Knopfler, who led the band Dire Straits and made a worldwide breakthrough, participated in this commemorative tour to express his respect for Clapton. There was a topic that Elton John, who did not participate in the previous tour due to schedule reasons, participated in this Japan tour. It was Elton’s first visit to Japan in 14 years since 1974, Mark Knopfler’s first visit to Japan in five years, and to this day, this was his last visit to Japan. Since allies in the rock world willingly participated to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Clapton’s debut, the set list was also made up of masterpieces representing his 25-year career. You can feel the outstanding stability in Crossroads and White Room, which explode with overly aggressive phrases from the beginning, and After Midnight, which is played with a strong groove of a remake arrangement, and the intense solo in the middle and the coda that emphasizes melody are superb. The potential of this band is fully demonstrated throughout the album, such as Layla, which is color-coded and maximizes the synergy with Mark Knopfler, and in the feature corner with Knopfler and Elton, the songs have been refined through numerous sessions. You can listen to Clapton’s highly adaptable backing and obbligato. It can be said that Clapton’s own play is better than the Tokyo Dome performance on November 2nd, which was broadcast on satellite and FM at the time. Was it because of the awareness that this was the final performance of the commemorative world tour? The difference from the US tour is that Elton’s corner (songs) has increased due to Elton’s participation, and Clapton wanted Knopfler to be treated almost equally, so there were fewer Clapton songs and guest songs. is increasing. However, there is no need to view this negatively. As mentioned above, Clapton’s skillful play is so brilliant that even with other artists’ songs, he doubles the charm of the original with a lyrical and emotional backup. Rod Stewart once appeared at the “Prince’s Trust” concert in 1986 and announced, “What a luxury it is to have Elton as my backing band.” Elton must have thought, “What a luxury to have Clapton serve as a backup.” Elton’s masterpieces are highlighted by Clapton’s solo obbligato. This is the best grade title of the representative sound source of the 1988 Celebrate Japan Tour, which is full of interesting things to listen to. Please take this opportunity to obtain the best version of this sound source. (Remastered Memo) ★Uses the master cassette provided by the recorder. ★Although the sound quality is super high, there is room for improvement in the reverberation of the guitar and vocals, so we have made adjustments. In particular, the guitar sound has the effect of reducing reverberation, and all phrases are clearer than the previous ones.
