Description

This week, two vintage masters who have been time warped will be released at the same time from the label that releases high-quality Japanese performance sound sources of Eric Clapton! The second of these is a full-length complete recording title produced from a high-quality audience master on the second day of his first visit to Japan in Osaka in 1974. This board was produced by the master provider of the November 5th performance at “OSAKA 1974 1ST NIGHT”, which will be released at the same time, who also provided the full-length master tape of this day. In other words, it is a high-quality master that guarantees the same level of sound quality as the audience disc of “OSAKA 1974 1ST NIGHT”. As mentioned in the review of “OSAKA 1974 1ST NIGHT”, let’s take a look at what position this Osaka performance was in Clapton’s activities this year. · June 19th and 20th, 1974: Warm-up gigs in Scandinavia for the US comeback tour · June 28th to August 4th, 1974: US tour <August 5th, 1974: Release of album “461 OCEAN BOULEVARD”> · August to September, 1974: Recording of album “THERE’S ONE IN EVERY CROWD” in Miami · September 28th to October 6th, 1974: Second US tour · October 31st, 1974: First visit to Japan, opening performance at Nippon Budokan · November 1st, 1974: Second performance at Nippon Budokan · November 2nd, 1974: Third performance at Nippon Budokan (additional performance) · November 5th, 1974: Opening performance at Osaka Welfare Pension Hall・November 6, 1974: Osaka Welfare Pension Hall, second day performance (last day of Japan performance) ←★Here★・November 27, 1974 – December 5, 1974: European tour This was the last performance of the first visit to Japan. What’s interesting about this day is that Clapton was completely drunk, a stark contrast to the previous day. It’s hard to believe that Clapton, who had performed so down-to-earth the day before, would return to this appearance in just one day… However, that only applies to the MC. The performance itself showed high quality, except for the lengthy intervals between songs and the endings of the songs. It was probably the result of a toast in high spirits before the stage, as it looked like their first performance in Japan would end without a hitch. What’s fascinating is that the set list is quite different from the previous day, and on this day, in addition to playing Muddy Waters’ Honey Bee acoustically, they also played rare numbers such as Key To The Highway, Steady Rollin’ Man, Crossroads, and Mainline Florida from “461 OCEAN BOULEVARD” as an encore (Steady Rollin’ Man, Crossroads, and Mainline Florida were only played on this day on this Japan tour). In addition, on this day, Layla joined All I Have To Do Is Dream and played it at the end. I can’t believe the set list changed so much… It can also be said that this is a sound source that tells of the high potential of Clapton’s band “Tulsa Tops” at that time. On this day, Clapton used a Gibson Explorer after Singing The Blues, which changed to electric. As with the previous day, with this high sound quality, you can enjoy the fat and lustrous sound of this guitar. Clapton only used this guitar on this Japan tour and the short European tour that followed, so this album, which allows you to listen to it, can be said to be a very valuable sound source in his guitar career (after this, Clapton gave this guitar to Junior Marvin, guitarist of Bob Marley & The Wailers). But that’s not all that’s valuable. In fact, on the final day, Clapton played “Blackie” in two encore songs. Since there were few fans who saw this Japanese performance multiple times, and it was in remote locations such as Tokyo and Osaka, not all performances have been reported at present. In the midst of all this, it was a fact that he played Blackie in the encore on the final day. On the contrary, playing Blackie made it an even more valuable performance. Please enjoy the high sound quality of the newly acquired audience master.
