In 2017, the concert “A Celebration Of 50 Years Of Music” celebrating Clapton’s 50th anniversary of musical activity will be held in New York again in September, following March and May. The live performances at Madison Square Garden in New York, which were held on September 7th and 8th, are recorded in full with digital audience recording. First of all, the microphone used for recording in this title is a high-end microphone called “Schoeps MK4”, which is said to be the best in the world, and is truly top-class as a modern digital audience recording. The difference between the show and the London performance in May is that Walt Richmond, who was employed by the late J.J. Cale, has been appointed as the keyboardist for the first time since 2010. And the set will be the White Room since the Cream reunion concert in 2005, which shows Clapton’s enthusiasm for this concert. The concert itself was amazing, and fans have praised it as one of the top five concerts in the last 20 years. This is evident from the sharpness of the solo at the end of the opening song, Somebody’s Knocking. In addition, the songful phrases in I Shot the Sheriff on both days, and the solo part in the second half of the highlight, White Room, where he uses the wah pedal, are reminiscent of his old playing. For the encore, as with the MSG concert in March, his guitar friends Jimmie Vaughan and Gary Clark Jr. appeared on both days, and the performance was of the highest quality, worthy of a 50th anniversary concert.
