Description
This is the fourth and final title of Eric Clapton’s RAH encore release. From the 12 consecutive performances at the Royal Albert Hall in 1989, the last three days of the six performances on the latter half of the schedule, February 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, are completely recorded in a very clear stereo audience recording. As with Pt.1, Pt.2, and Pt.3, high-quality cassette masters by the same recorder living in the UK, which are exclusively available at our store, are used, achieving the highest level of high quality. Tape changes are performed between songs, but they do not affect the song part, and the master is so trouble-free that the recording artist’s skill is admired. On this stage of the nine-piece band, the set list has also changed from the previous four-piece band, with “Lay Down Sally” and “Wanna Make Love To You” newly set in place of “Easy Lover” and “Knockin’ On Heaven’s Door”. Another noteworthy point is that Mark Knopfler’s repertoire “Solid Rock,” which was not included in the first three days of the nine-piece band, was played. It seems that this was featured as a way of thanking Clapton for his continued support with his sad, lyrical guitar playing throughout the entire stage. As you can see, Knopfler’s obbligatos, which can be heard in “Bell Bottom Blues” and “Wanna Make Love To You,” are outstanding during these three days of performances. It is clear that the best part of the nine-piece band’s stage is the contrast between Clapton’s blues-rock style and Knopfler’s country-flavored playing. Since this year, Clapton and Knopfler’s only opportunities to perform together were at the Knebworth Festival the following year and the “Montserrat Island Relief Concert” in 1997, so this album is worth checking out as a recording of their best performance. All four titles are high-quality albums that fans will not regret owning. This title sold out instantly last time, so please take advantage of this last chance.
