Description

The second release of Eric Clapton’s encore is a title that completely records the first half of the first six performances of the 12 consecutive performances at the Royal Albert Hall in early 1989, and the three performances on January 24th, 25th, and 26th in a very clear stereo audience recording. This was also a popular release that sold out immediately when it was released before. It is a top-level recording by the same recorder as Pt.1, and is recorded with excellent sound quality that makes you understand why it sold out. The set list was the same for all six days with a four-piece band, but the weight of Clapton’s guitar, which is known for its ad-lib play, is high, and the content allows you to enjoy the variety of the play every day. You can also enjoy Clapton’s MC, and in “Easy Lover” on the 25th, he takes the trouble to announce before the song, “Phil Collins will sing a hit song. Nathan East sometimes takes the vocals.” It is unusual to start a song suddenly except on this day. Collins’ “Bell Bottom Blues” and “Forever Man” are tasteful, and the re-recorded version of “After Midnight” played by Andy Newmark is also beautifully colored with Collins-style drumming, which shows his professionalism. Also, on the final day, January 26th, before the performance of “Knockin’ On Heaven’s Door”, “Happy Birthday” was improvised. This was performed for Phil Collins, whose birthday was on January 30th. Clapton also performed on the 30th, but it was with a nine-piece band in the latter half, and Collins did not participate in the nine-piece band, so it is thought that he celebrated early on this day. This also shows the band’s unity and unity. The four-piece band performance, which was performed by a small but elite group, was a noteworthy stage where such power and sharpness were fully opened. Only the beginning of “Easy Lover” on the 26th is slightly muffled, but like Pt.1, the fact that you can listen to the three performances with this high sound quality is the most valuable sound source. Both the sound quality and performance content of this board are comparable to Pt.1, so we hope that enthusiastic fans will take this opportunity to collect both titles.
