The final day of the 2024 Euro Tour, the annual festival “Lucca Summer Festival” held in Italy on June 2nd, was recorded in full for 1 hour and 35 minutes from the high-quality audience master released by Taper. This is a recording from close to the PA speaker in the front row of the arena, so it is clear and has a good sound balance, and it is especially important that Clapton’s guitar is captured widely. In recent years, the set list has not been changed much, but the charm of this tour is that the set contents have changed quite a bit from the past, and here too, it starts with this instrumental number titled “Blue Dust”. This is a variation of “Blue Rainbow” that was dedicated to Beck, who passed away the previous year, and was first performed at the Japan performance in April of the same year, and it has already become a big topic because it is a song that has not even been officially recorded yet. The final song of the first half of the electric set was a new song, “Prayer of a Child,” which was released with new lyrics to the instrumental song that was played at the beginning of the Gaza support charity concert in December of the previous year. Another highlight of the tour was the prologue to “Cocaine,” which was performed by Nathan East, who wrote Lyle Mays’ “Close to Home.” It was surprising that the two major classics, “Layla” and “Wonderful Tonight,” were not included in this tour, but the performances were so fulfilling that it didn’t feel out of place, and this is a must-listen item for fans who can look forward to their next visit to Japan.
