Description

This week’s “Clapton Week”, the third release of Eric Clapton’s sound source secretly kept by the British heavyweight Taper, is the original master of the “Me & Mr. Johnson Tour” that began in the spring of 2004, which was recorded in full on April 23rd, midway through the tour in Dublin, Ireland, with a superb stereo audience recording on par with a soundboard recording! Let’s take a chronological look at the topics before and after this concert to see when this tour took place in Clapton’s career. <March 30, 2004: Release of the album “ME AND MR. JOHNSON”> ・March 24 – May 11, 2004: European tour ←★Here★ ・June 4, 5, 6, 2004: First Crossroads Guitar Festival ・June 9 – August 2, 2004: US tour You can see that this tour was held in conjunction with the release of the album “ME AND MR. JOHNSON”. Naturally, new songs from the album were included in the set (middle), and attention was focused on how Clapton would play the newly recorded numbers by Robert Johnson, who he is infatuated with all his life, in a live performance. However, it can be said that the highlight of this tour was the other numbers. After pulling out the Dylan number Walk Out In The Rain from the 1978 album “BACKLESS” and playing a laid-back performance, he performed the Dominos number Got To Get Better In A Little While, which he played for the first time in 34 years since 1970, and showed off a breathless, raging play, and then moved on to Have You Ever Loved A Woman, which was played without any pause. There is no doubt that you will be knocked out just by the first half. In the second half, Layla, with Doyle joining, is still good! In fact, this source had a super high-quality sound board released by our shop more than 10 years ago, but this time, the British heavyweight Taper who recorded this source himself sent us a first-generation master! And our engineer further mastered it. As a result, we were able to deliver a sound that was significantly upgraded from the previous version more than 10 years ago. This clarity and power are extraordinary! Some people will believe that it is a super high-quality sound board. Moreover, the beginning and the end are recorded about 5 seconds longer than the existing source. And above all, the charm of this board is the play quality of this stage. The young guitarist Doyle Bramhall II, who Clapton finally persuaded, is wonderful! From the appearance of being entrusted with solos in each song, it is clear that he had already gained the full trust of Clapton. Listen to the afterword of Got To Get Better In A Little While, where the two incandescent solos intersect. Clapton probably wanted this passion. Furthermore, this year was the last tour where Billy Preston showed his dynamic figure. Furthermore, the powerful black duo Michelle John and Sharon White were appointed for the first time as female back chorus. This soulful chorus is also powerful like gospel. This lineup of bands will give you a tremendous performance. In Cocaine, the phrase of Money For Nothing by ally Mark Knopfler also pops out. It can be said that this is a wonderful stage that shows how fulfilling Clapton was both physically and mentally at this time. Please enjoy this album, which can be declared the best during the 2004 tour. Live at the Point, Dublin, Ireland 23rd April 2004 ULTIMATE SOUND(from Original Masters) Disc 1(68:44) 1. Intro. 2.
