Description
Clapton’s latest European tour, the best audience shot video of the Lyon performance! Eric Clapton’s latest European tour in 2024, which was carried out from May to June and ended successfully. We will release a good audience shot video that fully recorded the performance in Lyon, France, which was the second performance from the last day. This video is a single release of the DVDR attached to “Lyon 2024 (2CDR + DVDR)” released this week. The angle is a fixed angle that is shot from the third floor stand of this arena, which can accommodate more than 10,000 people, from a slightly left angle toward the stage, overlooking the entire stage, and all four vertical screens installed on the stage are framed. Therefore, you can enjoy the state of the stage and close-up shots of Clapton and the members featured on the screen at the same time, and the progress of the stage is very clear. Moreover, because an HD camera was used, the focus is not blurred despite the zoom shooting from a long distance, and the quality is easy to watch. The audio was also recorded in very good stereo audience recording, and there was no bad sound quality that made you feel the distance of the seats. At the beginning, the producer’s unique introduction was added, so you can enjoy the shock as if the opening was Layla. There is only one slight sound jump at the beginning of the opening Blue Dust, but there are no problems after that. Clapton’s look is a gray shirt, gray jacket, and blue jeans. He is playing a Stratocaster painted in the colors of the Palestinian flag, which was used at the “SAVE A CHILD Concert (For GAZA Children)” (the video has already been released on DVD at our shop), which was held as a charity concert in support of Gaza in December last year. The big attraction of this tour was that the set list was significantly changed from the previous year’s tour, and many rare numbers were set in from newly written new songs. Fans will be very happy just to be able to watch the latest stage with this high-quality video. The band members have not changed since last year’s tour, except for the keyboardist Paul Carrack, who has been replaced by Tim Carmon, a familiar member of Clapton’s band. Therefore, the encore number has changed from High Time We Went, which featured Carrack in recent years! Surrounded by reliable and talented members who perform solid performances, Clapton is showing a very fulfilling performance, including a surprise. Please enjoy it. The unexpected set list, which is different from last year’s tour, is attractive! Looking at the set list for this stage again, the opening was a surprise. This instrumental song titled Blue Dust was dedicated to Jeff Beck, who passed away last year, and was a variation of Blue Rainbow, which was first performed at the Japan performance in April of the same year! I can’t believe he was already working on a variation of a new song that had not even been officially recorded yet… This alone shows Clapton’s vigorous creativity. Moving to an acoustic set, the title number from the 2005 album “BACK HOME” was played, Back Home. This song was also a super rare song that was only played at the beginning of the 2006 tour. Perhaps this song contains feelings for the people of Gaza who lost their homes. And surprisingly, in this acoustic set, they played the original song Golden Ring from “BACKLESS” released in 1978. This was a number included in the project album “The Lady In The Balcony: Lockdown Sessions”, which was recorded live in a studio at an old castle in England in 2021 during the COVID-19 pandemic. It is likely that they liked the acoustic arrangement there and performed it at this performance. This is the first time they have played it in a concert live in front of an audience in 46 years since the 1978 tour. This can be said to be one of the highlights of the day, and it is valuable just to be able to see the full performance scene. The first shot after returning to the electric set is the powerful Dominos number, Got to Get Better in a Little While. It was also featured in the aforementioned “SAVE A CHILD Concert (For GAZA Children)” for the first time in a long time, and Clapton was able to enjoy a dynamic performance for the first time in a long time, so it is thought that he set it in. Sonny Emory’s outstanding stick handling is also wonderful here. During Emory’s drum solo in the middle, it is also fun to see Clapton surrendering to it on the screen. After this, the first pattern of blues on this tour, That’s Alright, is played. This song was played as an encore in Liverpool, the second performance of the tour. I thought there would be no more surprises, but as a special production, Nathan East played a song called Close To Home written by Lyle Mays as a prologue before Cocaine. And there was still a surprise at the very end. In the encore, Clapton’s favorite blues Before You Accuse Me is played. Looking at it this way, the second half of the stage was a set list that seemed to be solidly solidified with old blues, typical of Clapton. Even if you watch this performance in Lyon, you can see that the artist Clapton put together the set list for this tour while thinking about many things and many people. Of course, the underlying feeling was that he wanted to play these songs, but it seems that he also wanted to perform them with his own feelings. His lost best friend, a world of constant war, his admired bluesman, his career so far. This set list and this fulfilling live performance are the result of various thoughts going through Clapton’s mind. It was also unusual for him to not play Wonderful Tonight and Layla on this tour.
