Description

This is a good stereo audience DAT master recording of the Chicago performance on July 24th, the fifth performance from the second leg of Eric Clapton’s American tour carried out in 2001 with the release of the album “Reptile”. The topic of the day was the appearance of Buddy Guy, a great bluesman who also runs a club in his hometown of Chicago, who participated in the two blues parts in the latter half. As always, this is a good sound source that allows you to enjoy the contrast between Buddy’s aggressive and wild playing nuances and Clapton’s playing nuances with a fluent and orderly phrase structure. You can see the two of them having fun exchanging phrases. There are few sound sources on this tour where you can hear him perform with guest musicians, so it is a valuable one. The set list, which includes good numbers from “Reptile” and its previous work “Pilgrim”, as well as a well-balanced set of six blues and Cream era masterpieces, is a stage that can be said to be a typical Clapton composition. Clapton is known for his improvisational nature, so you can hear his solo playing, which is a little different from the official live album “One More Car, One More Rider” that contains this tour. The band members included the late Billy Preston, and his unique Hammond organ sound adds a touch of elegance. At this point, Clapton had decided to retire from touring after this year’s world tour. Although it did not end up that way, there is no doubt that Clapton played every performance with special feelings. This is a very excellent audience source that we would like you to listen to while thinking about Clapton’s heart, especially after he had thought that his stage performance with Buddy would be the last. The master was uploaded to the Internet, but we have applied our own professional mastering to it to improve the sound quality. You will be surprised at how the drums, which had a slightly blurred sound, have changed into a tight sound with a bone. The overall sound has also become deeper and more dynamic. We will generously offer this upgraded version. I would recommend this album not only to Clapton fans, but also to rock fans who want to hear “the first and almost last Clapton of the 21st century.” Live at United Center, Chicago, Illinois, USA 24th July 2001 PERFECT SOUND Disc 1 1.
