This is a valuable sound source recorded on a soundboard from the 1985 Japan tour at Nagoya City Public Hall on October 9th. There are many incomplete soundboard recordings of Clapton’s performances in Japan in the 1970s and 1980s that do not include encores, but this is also an incomplete recording source from the PA out. It was once released under the title “FOREVER MAN”, but the original pitch was about 30% higher randomly, and the sound quality was unbalanced with no high frequencies at all. Therefore, the original title did not have much market value, but our engineers have reborn this sound source! In addition to normalizing the pitch, we have brought out the high frequencies through mastering and revived the powerful sound quality. The first half of She’s Waiting and the second half of Layla, as well as Forever Man and Further On Up The Road played in the encore, are not recorded and are the same as the original sound source, but this sound quality and this sound board, which can be heard at normal pitch, can be said to be a record that decorates one page of a wonderful Japanese performance. The band at this time had a unique ironclad rhythm section. It was Jamie Oldaker, who supported Clapton in the 70s, and the late Donald Duck Dunn, the famous bassist of Stax. Their tight and bouncy rhythm makes every number lively and vivid. In addition, there was Tim Renwick, a guitarist who was a veteran of the British rock world and later a regular member of Pink Floyd’s tours. His support playing was also spot on. And Clapton was in good form that day! It was a stage on a day when it would be impossible to see this lineup again. Even if you’re not a Clapton fanatic, it’s worth owning this item with improved pitch and sound quality.
