Description

This video is famous among European traders, as it was shot with a handheld camera, so the beginning is very shaky, there are cut-outs and cut-ins of the song, and even the third song, I Shot The Sheriff, has never been played. Although it has the drawback of being recorded, the stage is clearly captured in a close-up shot from slightly left of the center of the floor seats. Especially after Midnight, where you can see the familiar image of a cigarette being stuck in the head of a guitar, the image suddenly becomes more stable. After that, the encore is well recorded with easy-to-see shots that make the early hardships seem like a lie. This edition, which allows you to listen to the highest quality CD concert and enjoy the video at the same time, is a perfect complement to “ROSKILDE FESTIVAL 1986”. It’s very interesting in the sense that you can see the whole story of the concert that you couldn’t tell from the sound alone, and firstly, the positions of the members on the stage are somewhat irregular. Phil Collins’ drum kit is placed far to the right of center. Bassist Nathan East is just to the left, Clapton is to the left, and keyboardist Greg Phillinganes is to the far left. If you were sitting in the front row, you could probably hear the drums coming from the right side. Considering that, I once again take my hat off to the excellence of “ROSKILDE FESTIVAL 1986”, which recorded this performance with exquisite phase and balance, but the audio of this edition is also quite good in sound quality and balance. Also, at the ending of each song, you will notice that Clapton always makes eye contact with Phil Collins. Collins gets a pin spot on In The Air Tonight, and it is also a sight to see him standing on the drum kit and singing. And the Ferrari red custom Stratocaster Clapton played on would look great on stage! In recent years, Clapton has returned to playing Strats with a black finish, but in retrospect, his adventures in Strat design and coloring may have begun around this time. Please enjoy the expression of Clapton’s MAX tension shown during the solo with outstanding sharpness, which is full of trebly and bright tone. This is a masterpiece that you should definitely add to your collection as one of the topics from the 4-piece “August Band” era. Live at Roskilde Festival, Roskilde, Denmark 4th July 1986 1.
