There were rumors of him coming to Japan this year, and I was looking forward to it, but it can’t be helped because of the coronavirus pandemic. So this item is a high-quality recording of the Bahrain performance on March 19, 2022! (A full-length version of the live performance on that day was created using two sources. There are some cuts in the songs on tracks 2, 3, 5, 7, and 13, so it feels like a nearly complete recording. It’s 1 hour and 28 minutes long, so you can see that it’s not a major cut.) It’s a date that EC decided to hold a live performance at the newest venue in Bahrain to coincide with the F1 Grand Prix. The band members are Doyle, Nathan, Chris, Sonny Emory on drums, and Sharon alone on back chorus. The set list will also proceed with songs that we’ve been familiar with until now. It’s a surprise acoustic set. “SMILE” was dedicated to Frankie Brooker, the wife of Eric’s friend and former band member Gary Brooker, who passed away on February 19, 2022. (This song was performed at Hammersmith Odeon in London on December 5, 1974.) It is a wonderful and touching take.
