Description

We will release another treasured master from the heavyweight taper who lives in the UK and is well-known for Eric Clapton’s treasured sound source! The contents include pre-release versions, outtakes, and rehearsal takes recorded during the recording sessions for the studio recording album “AUGUST” released in 1986. These audio sources had already been leaked in the past and were released by multiple labels. If you’re thinking, “Then, is it the same content again? It’s not unusual,” please pay attention. Of course, the “AUGUST” session includes takes and versions released in the past, but it is a collection of versions that were not included in releases from each label, and additionally includes extremely rare versions. It is a culmination title. All songs are rare and interesting versions and takes, and there are no duplicates of the officially released album versions in mixes or takes. Songs with a pre-song count, songs whose lyrics have not yet been determined and a guide vocal added for the time being, instrumental versions without vocals, complete outtakes, and non-edited songs that were officially edited. It is full of rare versions and rare takes that are worth listening to, such as edited long versions and completely unreleased songs. This album, following the previous album “BEHIND THE SUN”, was produced by Phil Collins, but its taste and direction were completely different. Clapton intended to break new ground by making extensive use of Phil’s specialty synths in his previous work, but his use of cheap synth horns in the standard soul numbers made it seem ostentatious. Lacking a catchy number, Clapton was ordered to re-record by his company Warner Brothers, and he reluctantly worked on Forever Man, which became a smash hit at No. 18 in the United States, and managed to save face. “AUGUST” was where he took advantage of his regrets and showed his friendship by giving his ally Phil a second chance. It is said that Clapton completed “AUGUST” in two weeks. At this time, we brought in top-notch session men from LA called “Team A” who we met at the Forever Man sessions, and it was also an album for which we fired the entire backing band. Nathan East (bass), Greg Phillinganes (keyboards), and Phil himself joined in on drums, and basically all the songs on this album were produced by a small group of four members, and the members were overflowing with enthusiasm. However, Phil Collins, who had been given a second chance, was especially enthusiastic, and as if to say, “I can’t make a mistake again,” he called in the real Brecker Brothers instead of a synth horn. Furthermore, female singers Tessa Niles, who was active in The Police’s “Synchronicity Tour” in 1983, and Katie Kissoon, who was active in Roger Waters’ “The Pros and Cons of Hitchhiking Tour” in 1984, were appointed as the female chorus. The resulting sound transformed into a “black contemporary” or “funky” sound that differed from Clapton’s previous tastes, which had a somewhat laid-back taste. Clapton’s tone was also a major factor in this sound, as he retired the “Blackie” Strat he had been using for many years and replaced it with a Sing Nature model prototype Strat equipped with a new Race Sensor pickup provided by Fender. “AUGUST” is an ambitious work by Clapton, who is full of glitter and vitality. The whole story of the production process can be enjoyed only on this board. Among the rare takes, there are two unreleased songs, Walking The White Line and Lady From Verona, of which only the instrumental versions remain. I’m always curious about the lyrics to the melody and performance of the former, and the latter was dedicated to his mistress, Lori del Santo, an Italian model who had given birth to a newborn son at the time. It was number. Although Clapton was found to have an illegitimate child, he had somehow reconciled with his official wife, Patti, so he couldn’t record a number dedicated to his mistress, so it was said that he had gotten into trouble. What’s more, this edition includes three versions: one with and without a female chorus, and an instrumental version. Other songs are packed with versions, takes, and mixes that will make you groan. This is a valuable sound source that allows you to peek behind the scenes of Clapton, and can be enjoyed by both those who like “AUGUST” and those who don’t.
