Description
Elton John welcomed Davey Johnston in 1972 and completed the golden lineup. The best soundboard album is now available. This work includes “May 3, 1972 South Bend Performance”. This is a stereo soundboard recording that records the whole story. Elton, who had Davey join him, produced a new work, “HONKY CHATEAU”, in early 1972. We started a world tour without waiting for the release. First of all, let’s look back at the schedule at that time and check the show’s position. [Completion of “HONKY CHATEAU” in January] ・February 5th – March 14th: UK #1 (11 performances) ・March 14th – 20th: West Germany (5 performances) ・April 11th – May 16th Sun: North America #1 (19 performances) ←★Coco★《“HONKY CHATEAU” released on May 19th》・August 27th-September 17th: UK #2 (8 performances)・September 26th-November 26th: North America #2 (49 performances) This is Elton John in 1972. The North American tour was held twice before and after the release of the album, and the South Bend performance of this work was held before the release. This was the 7th concert of “North America #1″. This show has long been known for radio broadcasting, and its FM soundboard has become a standard. However, this work is not such a broadcast itself, but a complete version that includes the full show, including unbroadcasted parts. Moreover, the quality is also excellent. If you listen to it with headphones, you can hear a slight hiss, so it’s hard to say it’s “completely official grade” by modern digital standards, but it can be said to be “Dera Eddy bonus disc grade” or “official excavation grade.” The close contact unique to the soundboard is tremendous, and the youthful singing voice of a 25-year-old at the time and the piano touch are so clear that you can almost feel the angle of the fingers touching the keyboard. Of course, with the addition of Davey’s guitar, the rock feel of the four members is vivid, and the groove oozes out from the neatly separated ensemble. It is a live album where you can fully enjoy the synchronized feeling unique to a soundboard that is integrated with the live performance itself, not the immersive feeling of a concert venue. What is depicted with such a sound is Elton’s full show, which has finally entered its golden age. Speaking of shows after Davey joined, the traditional official version “HERE AND THERE” is famous, so let’s organize the sets while comparing them.・My Song is Your Song: Border Song/Your Song/Take Me To The Pilot ・Elton John 3: Country Comfort ・Friends: Can I Put You On (★) ・Madman: Tiny Dancer (★)/Levon ( ★) / Holiday Inn (★) / Madman Across The Water (★) / Honky Chateau: Susie (Dramas) (★) / Rocket Man (I Think It’s Going to Be a Long, Long Time) / Others: Whole Lotta Shakin ‘Goin’ On (★) *Note: Songs marked with a “★” cannot be heard on the official version of “HERE AND THERE.” …and it looks like this. Since the tour is different from “HERE AND THERE”, it is natural that the set is different, but “MADMAN ACROSS THE WATER”, which cannot be heard in that traditional work, is used in large quantities. Furthermore, there are many valuable numbers such as “Can I Put You On”, “Susie (Dramas)”, which was only played until this tour, and Big Maybell’s cover “Whole Lotta Shakin’ Goin’ On”. “HONKY CHATEAU TOUR” is a mix of famous songs from the early days and ensembles unique to the golden lineup. This is a full live album that allows you to fully experience the entire world tour that only had a partial soundboard. A classic soundboard album that has evolved into a complete version.
