Description

Introducing the longest sound board recording of the July 22, 1972 Korakuen Stadium performance, including the first appearance part. This performance was broadcast live on commercial television at the time, and was rebroadcast that night, but although the master is the same as the broadcast take, it is the longest line take that includes unrecorded parts. The concert is recorded for 67 minutes and 39 seconds. First of all, the most important point is that the beginning of the song from Emerson’s MC before Take A Pebble, which was not recorded in the broadcast version, is recorded as a line recording (in the broadcast, the first part of the song “my face still so gently…”) Cut in from around). This part is about 1 minute and 15 seconds long, but it is a very important take. Furthermore, in the broadcast, the 4-minute first half of Rondo, which was recorded from the drum solo, appeared as a line recording for the first time in history. With this alone, you can easily understand that this is the most important piece that fans must obtain. The original was a cassette tape obtained from a person involved at the time, but it contained Korakuen’s broadcast line recordings in bits and pieces, like a collection of best takes, for some reason. What was recorded was the sound check at the beginning (there is no announcer’s voice (introducing the provider) like on TV) and Tarkus’ first appearance for about 10 minutes and 50 seconds (cut out here). A complete recording of Pictures At An Exhibition and Rondo, from Take A Pebble to Lucky Man, including the beginning. The original was a 90 minute tape with a total time of 45 minutes and 38 seconds. Therefore, all other line recordings have been added from the TV broadcast sound source to create a full-length line recording version. This time, the newly unearthed line recording tape had 22 minutes recorded in the broadcast without being recorded. In terms of songs, it includes all of Hoedown and Tarkus’ Manticore from the 40th second onwards until the end. From the second half of Take A Pebble’s piano solo to the end, it is connected from the video audio of the recorded broadcast, making it a pseudo-longest recording. Actually, the sound check sound part at the beginning was recorded for about 30 seconds, and this was also cut out, but in the TV broadcast, it was said that “This program is about Greco guitar, Japan’s wing that connects the world, Japan. Although the word “Aviation” is included, this announcement is not included in this take. Therefore, if you connect it with the video audio that follows, you will be able to hear a version without the introduction of Greco Guitar & Japan Airlines, in which only the announcement “Brought to you by Meiji Seika and Lion Yushi” appears. It’s a part where non-enthusiasts would say, “What are you going to do when you hear something like that?”, but it’s refreshing to hear that it’s a pre-broadcast take that doesn’t have any of it, even if some of it was originally covered. . As mentioned above, Hoedown was not recorded on the tape, so we had no choice but to use the TV broadcast take here as well, so we heard the familiar “Hi, good evening, good evening, this is Yagi-chan. Can you hear me, this is Nicky? Now, the two of us. Of course, there are words like, “I’ve come to Korakuen, and something wonderful is happening in Korakuen right now!”, but if you think that’s what it’s like here, you can enjoy listening to it. Masu. Whatever it is, the parts of the 1972 Japanese performance line recording that first appeared for the first time in 42 years are a must-listen for fans, although they are short. Of course, it is a niche project for enthusiasts only, but it is definitely a must-listen and must-have for fans. Live at Korakuen Stadium, Tokyo, Japan 22nd July 1972 SBD (67:39) 1. Introduction 2.
