This release features a 79-minute full recording of the second show in Tokyo on February 24th, the momentous first day of U.K.’s revival tour in 2026, using a high-quality audience master released by the taper. U.K. had previously disbanded after their 2015 reunion tour, and with the death of John Wetton in 2017, a reunion with the original members became impossible. Eddie himself also suspended his concert activities after 2018. After eight years of silence, he finally made a comeback, and his first stage performance was, of course, in Japan, where he has many fans. The tour consisted of two shows a day for four days, for a total of eight performances, and this release perfectly recreates the performance from that first day in ultra-clear soundboard quality. The highly anticipated setlist was a truly sublime one, almost perfectly recreating both of their UK studio albums. From “The Four Men of War,” they performed every song except “Thirty Years” and “Mental Medication,” interspersed with medleys, and from “Danger Money,” they played every song except “Nothing to Lose,” making it an irresistible treat for longtime fans. The support members for this tour were also incredibly strong, with Mark Bonilla, formerly of the Keith Emerson Band, in John Wetton’s position, Mike Kennelly, the last guitarist in Frank Zappa’s band, on guitar, and Marco Minnemann, a multi-instrumentalist who has released numerous solo albums—a gathering of seasoned veterans here in Japan. Furthermore, there were some set changes each day for these Japanese performances, and on this particular day, “Night After Night,” which wasn’t in the first show, was played near the end of the second show, making it a limited-time memorial item that fans will want to check out at every performance.
