Description
30 years after RAINBOW’s first visit to Japan in 1976, “October 16, 2006” was DIO’s last performance in Japan. The treasured original recording containing the entire story is now available for the first time. DIO, led by Ronnie James Dio, visited Japan seven times. In history, a total of 22 performances in Japan were realized. What is included in this work is the last one. First, let’s look back at the position of this work from the glorious history of coming to Japan.・1985: SUPER ROCK ’85 (1 performance) ・1986: SACRED HEART TOUR (7 performances) ・1987: JAPAN AID 2 (1 performance) “10 Years Gap” ・1997: ANGRY MACHINES TOUR (4 performances) )・2000: MAGICA TOUR (4 performances) 《5 years gap》・2005: MASTER OF THE MOON TOUR (3 performances) ・2006: LOUD PARK 06 (2 performances) ←★Here★ This is DIO in Japan All performances on stage. For Ronnie himself, HEAVEN & HELL in 2007 was his last visit to Japan, but as DIO, 2006 was his last. We came to Japan to participate in “LOUD PARK 06” and performed two shows. We have previously introduced the live album “LOUD PARK 2006 (Shades 727)” from the Makuhari Messe performance, but this work was released the next day. It is truly an audience recording that completely records the Zepp Osaka performance, which was the last stage. This work conveys such a historical night, and the quality is also excellent. In fact, the person who recorded this work was the “strongest taper in Western Japan”. He is one of the most famous recording artists of modern times, who is well known at our store, and this is his early recording. The sound is already showing signs of mastery. As expected, it has not reached the “extreme” level that it has today, but it still has the feel of a fastball with a thick and thick core that approaches you, ultra-clear details, and a sense of stability that is powerful but not explosive. If you can thoroughly eliminate even the slightest sense of atmosphere and maintain a natural sound even at peak levels, you will have the “strongest sound” that is called “like a soundboard” or “better sound than the actual sound”…that is the prototype recording. That kind of sound depicts DIO’s last brave appearance. Although it is a short set for the appearance on “LOUD PARK 06”, there is a concentration of famous songs that are a little different from usual. Now let’s organize the contents of the set. RAINBOW (5 songs)・Ginrei no Conqueror: The Temple of the King/Man on the Silver Mountain/Catch the Rainbow・Babylon’s Gate: Kill the King/Long Live Rock ‘n’ Roll HEAVEN AND HELL (2 songs)・Children of the Sea/Heaven and Hell HOLY DIVER (4 songs), Stand Up and Shout/Holy Diver/Gypsy/Rainbow in the Dark…and so on. Although there is a lineup of familiar masterpieces, the usual standard “THE LAST IN LINE” number is not included at all. Instead, it includes famous songs such as “Gypsy,” “The Temple of the King,” and “Kill the King.” Particularly delicious are “The Temple of the King” and “Kill the King.” This is a song that could not be heard even on “HOLY DIVER LIVE”, which is known for being full of rare songs, and is a number unique to DIO’s later years, when he often looked back at RAINBOW. Moreover, the arrangement that uses “The Temple of the King” as an intro and descends into “Kill the King” is very DIO-like and extremely dramatic. What also reminds me of RAINBOW is Simon Wright’s drum solo. The solo while playing Holst’s “Jupiter” is reminiscent of the late Cozy Powell, who was relentlessly pounding away at “Mars.” Simon, who was one-bass in AC/DC and DIO in 1990, had switched to two-bass by this time, capturing the hearts of old fans. After this show, DIO performed one performance in Bulgaria and then took a break. Ronnie will participate in the formation of HEAVEN & HELL with Tony Iommi and Geezer Butler. After that, in 2008, they held a 10-performance mini-tour (you can enjoy the tour in our masterpiece “THE FINAL TOUR 2008 (Shades 729)”), but DIO’s regular activities ended there. It is. In other words, this work is the last night in Japan, and at the same time it is DIO’s final period. This is a historical masterpiece live album in which a master recorded the final performance in Japan at such a turning point.
