Description
Multiple line sources are known among enthusiasts during the American tour that “The Strongest DIO” circuited as the main tour in 1990. Among them, the one that was awarded along with the Dallas performance on the final day was the recording of the Atlanta “Civic Center” performance on October 2nd. Since its first appearance over 10 years ago, it has long been considered a staple of the same year by fans. “CERBERUS RULES” was known as the best master of that Atlanta live, but this time, to commemorate the release of “FINAL NIGHT 1990”, it has been newly remastered and revived as a new version! When “CERBERUS RULES” was released, it was praised as “far superior to previous releases,” but when listened to at the current level, each part seems unclear due to the mid-range sound quality. In this remaster, each range has been adjusted to achieve a tighter sound quality, resulting in a sound with more power and punch than the previous release. The biggest feature of this sound source is that it includes the “first half of the actual live performance” that cannot be heard on “FINAL NIGHT 1990”. Among them, the opening song “The Mob Rules” is extremely valuable! Although live recordings from the ’90 tour have been discovered over the past few years, this song by the “strongest DIO” can only be heard here! Together with “Children Of The Sea” where Rowan can listen to a play that rivals Tony Iommi, this BLACK SABBATH number 2 series is a great listen. Furthermore, the RAINBOW medley, which was a huge highlight of the set list at the time, is exquisite with its colorful and glossy sound, colored by Jens Johansson’s keyboard. From “Man On The Silver Mountain”, the clear and crisp sound makes you feel sunny and comfortable, and you can enjoy the best performance with the sound suitable for it. I can’t remember how many times I’ve listened to the song “Tarot Woman,” which surprised all RAINBOW fans at the time, followed by Jens’ keyboard solo reminiscent of “Still I’m Sad” from “RAINBOW ON STAGE,” and then into “Stargazer.” You will be overwhelmed! Furthermore, in “Stand Up And Shout” where Rowan approaches with a sharp guitar reminiscent of Vivian Campbell, Ronnie also sings wild and rough just like in 1983! After producing a live peak with “The Last In Line”, “Heaven And Hell” and “Rainbow In The Dark”, which are absolutely indispensable at DIO live, the title track from “LOCK UP THE WOLVES” appeared. It’s a bit disappointing that this is the only song from the same album that you can listen to here (I want to hear “Wild One” with this sound!), but even in a set that is completely classically oriented, BLACK SABBATH is a direct descendant of BLACK SABBATH. The profound and eerie song fits perfectly. Of course the sound is excellent. The taste of enjoying this performance with a lineup only available at this time is irresistible. When faced with the overwhelming play of “Holy Diver” and “We Rock” located before and after that, all DIO fans will no doubt bow down! The entire 70-minute collection condenses the charm of the 1990 DIO and is worth listening to. I’m so happy to be able to enjoy the masterpieces that are indispensable for DIO’s live performances with the strongest performance and the best listening experience! This work, along with “FINAL NIGHT 1990”, will serve as an “official replacement” in the Rowan era where there are no official live works. A superb live album that avid enthusiasts cannot avoid.
