Description
Following “WE ROCK: COMPLETE THE CD” and “HAMMERSMITH TRILOGY”, the third super soundboard set of DIO in his prime is now available! The first volume is “WE ROCK: COMPLETE THE CD” which is a “complete version of the official live”, and the second volume is “HAMMERSMITH TRILOGY” which follows the flow of history at the same venue, and the theme this time is “Complete recording of SBD masterpieces” “Collection”. The live performance in late 1983, which was the peak in DIO’s history, or even in Ronnie’s career, will be thoroughly listened to with excellent soundboard material, so much so that you’ll think, “This is it!” “HOLY DIVER” is the only masterpiece from Ronnie’s life that has even been completely reproduced. The debut tour accompanying that masterpiece was the unveiling performance of leader band DIO, and there was no defensive attitude whatsoever. He left behind an energetic and innovative performance that set his ambition for success wherever he went. Furthermore, since it is on sale, it is actively exposed to radio, and the tour is also known for its many high-quality recordings. In 1983, Donnington’s “Monsters Of Rock”, which became official, is particularly famous, as is Utrecht, the Netherlands, which was included in “WE ROCK: COMPLETE THE CD”, but in this work, “other than those two performances” A major feature is that all of the line sound sources that are known for are packaged into one set. Moreover, this time, we have taken every possible measure and sublimated all the sound sources into a “best of the best” version that has never existed anywhere before. “HOLY COLLECTION” released three years ago had a similar concept, but the sound source that appears this time has evolved into a definitive album that even that masterpiece will not be a problem! Coincidentally, all the live venues are in California. This work is a “California Live Trilogy” that follows the ’83 year that was missing in “HAMMERSMITH TRILOGY”! Disc 1 includes the San Jose “Civic Auditorium” performance on October 5, 1983. This live show also included two different SBD sources in the aforementioned “HOLY COLLECTION”: “short FM broadcast version” and “pre-broadcast full-length version”. Although it was interesting to listen to and compare the two because of the difference in recording time and sound quality, they have advantages and disadvantages as purely a live album. Therefore, this time, in order to create a live album that is also the best for entertainment, in addition to the two types listed above, we have also prepared two separate masters for the broadcast version and the complete version. These four types of masters were judged on a song-by-song basis, remastered to eliminate differences in texture, and then only the best takes were seamlessly connected. As a result, the “true best version” with the longest time and best sound quality has been realized! Even though they are connected, the original recording is the same single line sound source, so it sounds extremely natural. Even if you listen to it from the beginning of the live performance saying, “Let’s find the traces of editing,” you can’t tell where the connections are. As you listen to “Stand Up And Shout,” then “Children Of The Sea,” and “Holy Diver,” you’ll start to feel foolish trying to find the answer (even the engineer who did the work didn’t have any work notes. (So much so that I couldn’t see the seams in the final master). The 66 minutes contained on the disc are a series of must-listen parts, from “Rainbow In The Dark”, where Ronnie’s powerful vocals emotionally enliven the live performance, to the medley of “Man On The Silver Mountain”, which dramatically concludes the live performance. . The listener will be able to experience the unknown San Jose performance on October 5, 1983, which “you seem to know but actually don’t know.” The take of the Santa Monica “Civic Center” performance on Disc 2 that follows is the sound source where the method used on Disc 1 demonstrated the most power. This day’s performance was also included in “HOLY COLLECTION”, but the sound quality was not good enough, and it was the biggest weak point that “HOLY COLLECTION” had to be content with the CD-R version. On the other hand, this time we succeeded in obtaining masters of incomparably high sound quality for two versions of RKO Radio Network’s programs “Captured Live!” and “A Fantasy Concert”! This was assembled using the same method as Disc 1 (especially the best parts of multiple masters within one song). The song order was also corrected to match the order of the transcription disc, and “Evil Eye” (which was taken in Utrecht on December 4th), which was mistakenly included in “HOLY COLLECTION”, was also deleted. Although it was a very complicated process, the live performance on October 7th became the longest and best version in the true sense of the time that had never been done before. When compared to the former “HOLY COLLECTION”, the difference in sound quality is obvious. From the opening songs “Stand Up And Shout” and “Straight Through The Night,” you’ll be astonished. In particular, “Holy Diver” and “Rainbow In The Dark” from the middle to the second half are overwhelmingly listenable (although there is a dynamic connection by the broadcasting station), and are sure to bring a moment of ecstasy to all DIO fans! Furthermore, as a bonus, this disc 2 includes 4 songs specially recorded from the performance at the Hollywood “Rock Palace” on January 4, 1984. Although another year has passed, this is also a live performance at the end of the “HOLY DIVER” tour. The professional shot video that was broadcast on TV on this day (broadcast date was January 14th) is known, but the take included here is the best source that far exceeds the TV material. The clearer and edgier sound will make even enthusiasts wonder, “Is there a take like this before?” And Disc 3 includes the Fresno “Seland Arena” performance on December 28th, which was also held in 1983. This sound source has also been remastered and repaired based on the take judged to be the best after a comparative study from three types of masters including Westwood One’s “IN CONCERT”, and is as good as the existing discs 1 and 2. The longest and best performance was achieved, making it a particularly wonderful piece of work. There were some titles in the previous releases that were annoying due to needle punches and choppy editing between songs, but this work has no such shortcomings at all. It is an exquisite master quality that can be said to be “exceptional” compared to any existing sound source! The careful recording that surpasses even Disc 1’s San Jose and Disc 2’s Santa Monica, and above all a mix that follows an official feel, is the perfect content to enjoy DIO’s live sound where heaviness and melody coexist. The band, which has become accustomed to touring, is in excellent condition in terms of performance. From the opening song, “Stand Up & Shout,” Vinny’s play explodes, and you can almost see Ronnie’s smiling face as he looks back and points out, “You’re not knocking today!” SABBATH numbers such as “Children Of The Sea” and “Heaven And Hell”, RAINBOW numbers such as “Man On The Silver Mountain”, and “Don’t Talk To Strangers”, which seems to boil down the best parts of both, are that It is no exaggeration to say that it is better than the Utrecht performance of the same period, which was included in the masterpiece “WE ROCK: COMPLETE THE CD”! Among the songs included in this work, the San Jose performance in October 1983 was also released as a semi-official version earlier this year. I won’t mention any names, but the disastrous content of simply increasing the sound pressure of the old boot and cutting up only a few parts of it has been criticized by fans all at once. We cannot leave Ronnie’s music in such a state. This work was created with a strong desire to “preserve Ronnie at his peak in the best possible form”, making full use of over a dozen different masters, including references, and sparing no time and effort. All of these are great recordings that have been loved by fans for many years, so the takes you can hear in this work are all famous performances that are familiar to avid enthusiasts. There may be people who have taken every detail of the performance to heart, but the quality recorded here is at a level that no one has ever experienced before! It is no exaggeration to say that this work, which is different from the semi-official version mentioned above, is the “answer” on the collector’s item side. All that remains is for the fans to pass on Ronnie’s accomplishments engraved in this work to future generations! Civic Auditorium, San Jose, CA.
