Description

This is a studio session of Derek and the Dominos, which includes outtakes and sessions from the masterpiece “Layla,” as well as the original version and sessions from the lost second album. Disc 1 contains outtakes and session recordings from “Layla,” in the order of the album. The vocals for “I Looked Away,” recorded in two takes, are quite rough, as the vocals have not yet been completely decided. Other tracks include backing tracks for “Bell Bottom Blues” and “Keep On Growing,” and two takes of “Nobody Knows You When You’re Down And Out” with backing tracks and a different vocal version. “Why Does Love Got To Be So Sad” is a version where you can clearly enjoy the intense vocals, due to the closed-door recording conditions in the studio. The mono version of the original test press acetate of the song is also included, borrowed from the WT label. Other tracks include “Have You Ever Loved A Woman,” which had to be redone because the guitar intro was not decided, and the only remaining outtake of the classic “Layla.” The vocals are double-tracked and in a different version, which is rare. The somewhat relaxed and relaxed singing is as wonderful as the released version, and this is an outtake that you should definitely listen to. Disc 2 contains the original version of the shelved second album, recorded in the order of the songs as known from the session recordings. As the title suggests, the album opens with the gentle “Moody Jam,” followed by the acoustic-sounding “Jim’s Song” and “Evil,” hard guitar numbers in the style of the first album. The vocals are sandwiched between multiple breaks, which really shows the Dominos’ style. “Snake Lake Blues” and “Mean Old Frisco” are completely different in style, but both create a tropical atmosphere. The album has a laid-back, languid, and loose atmosphere, but it’s a great way to think back to the lost second album, which was probably released in a similar form. Finally, disc 3 is made up of outtakes and session recordings from this second album. In addition to alternate versions of “Snake Lake Blues” and “High” from the original second album, there are also songs that were omitted from the album, such as “Is My Love” and “Devil Road,” all of which are great songs that shouldn’t be thrown away. This title is a 3-CD set that includes outtakes and sessions from Derek and the Dominos’ only album, “Layla,” a faithful reproduction of the lost second album according to the records of the time, and the outtakes and session recordings.
