Description
From the masterpiece series previously released by Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab under the brand name “Ultradisc?”, this is the only album by Derek and the Dominos, a band that Eric Clapton himself recognized as the best of his career. Official live album “IN CONCERT” has been added to the lineup! This work is considered one of the masterpieces of Clapton’s heyday, capturing the true essence of Clapton as a live musician. This CD was released in the fall of 1996, following the previously introduced “Layla And Other Assorted Love Songs” and “461 Ocean Boulevard.” Like those, it was produced in limited quantities by borrowing the American 2-track original master tape from Polygram Records (now Universal) at the time, but in terms of sound, CDs usually emphasize the high and low frequencies. , the midrange was poor, giving it the often said “clunky” impression, but this CD, like other CDs, gives the impression that all the ranges are well-balanced and harmonious. In particular, the sound of the first media known as the “compact disc” had a sharp treble that pierced the ears, which was once misunderstood as “clear.” In comparison, on this CD, the clarity of each instrument and the delicate sound of the vocals stands out. In other words, this was the result of faithfully reproducing the original analog master. In particular, since this album is a live album, the sounds of the four instruments are captured vividly. In particular, the clarity of the cymbals on Jim Gordon’s drums (no muddy sound, easy on the ears), and the depth of the tom and floor tom sounds give off the freshness that can only be found on a gold CD. The sound of this work was created using the minimum lineup of a rock band: guitar, bass, drums, and keyboard, so it was worth “refining” the sound faithfully to the original analog master. The recorded numbers include numbers from Clapton’s first solo album, numbers from “Layla And Other Assorted Love Songs”, which had just been recorded and was unreleased at the time, and Presence Of The Lord from the Blind Faith era. and the blues. Although Duane Allman did not participate here during the production of “Layla And ~”, Clapton’s play alone is at its best, and all songs are full of brilliance that can be called masterpieces. I would like you to listen to Clapton’s divine play at his peak with this sound quality. By the way, the master used on this disc was originally the master tape of the original US version used in 1973 when Polydor Records, the distributor of RSO Records, produced this work. As I mentioned earlier, due to the huge fire that occurred at Universal in 2008, most of the artists’ original American master tapes were destroyed, and this American analog master tape of “IN CONCERT” was also destroyed. , it is no longer possible to remaster the US master with higher sound quality than the main version. If you think about it that way, I think it’s good to have a taste of the sound of this board at least once.
