Description
A super hot and superb live album from the masterpiece “PYROMANIA” era is here. This work contains the “Milan performance on October 20, 1983”. It is supposed to be the super-superb audience recording. I’m sorry for the subtle way of writing, but in fact, this recording is constantly debated as “sound board” or “no, audience”, and in one passage it is even said to have been “FM broadcast”. In reality, it must be a microphone recording that absorbed the enthusiasm of the scene, but it may be a very rare “broadcast by broadcasting station microphone”. Putting such classification aside, this work is a superb product that is worthy of such discussion. There is a sense of realism surrounded by raw applause and cheers, but such audience noise does not step half a step beyond the realm of “spice”. Throughout the whole work, the performance and singing voices are strong and full of direct feeling, and the reality of the youthful DEF LEPPARD standing in front of you is wonderful. This is no longer a line recording or an audience recording, but a powerful sound that I would even call a “professional audience recording”. And the live performance depicted by that sound is also harsh. First, let’s imagine the position of the show in the world tour. [1983] {January 20th “PYROMANIA” released} February 9th – March 11th: Europe # 1 (25 performances) March 18th – September 20th: North America (115 performances) October 7th – November 16th: Europe # 2 (24 performances) ← ★ Here ★ December 3rd – 18th: Europe # 3 (5 performances) [1984] January 24th – 26th: Japan (3 performances) January 29th – February 2nd: Australia (3 performances) February 7th: Thailand (1 performance) A total of 178 performances. The legendary first visit to Japan was also realized at the end, but the main tour ended in November 1983. The Milan performance of this work is the 10th concert of “Europe # 2”, which was a triumphant return to Europe from the successful North American tour. The strong and tough live performance is a fulfilling feeling that truly savored the success. The MC frequently says, “Next is the new album “PYROMANIA”! “, but even more than that, the performance is young and wild. The set is an equal selection of six songs from both “HIGH ‘N’ DRY” and “PYROMANIA”, and is sprinkled with “Rock Brigade” and “Wasted” from “ON THROUGH THE NIGHT”, and a cover of CCR “Traveling Band”. The performance is also appropriate for the set, and while it already has a worldwide scale, it has an exquisite balance that does not reach the polished pop sense. The rock spirit that pours the length of feeling into a catchy song is dazzling. And the Milan audience that welcomes such DEF LEPPARD is also hot. The musical sound of this work is so thick and meaty that it drowns out the cheers, but even in it, you can hear the voices singing together. The thin but wide chorus makes the thick chorus even thicker. And it’s good! For some reason, the timing of the singing and cheering is as if it was arranged in advance, and the pronunciation is also excellent. And above all, they sing every song. Especially the sharp and hot call and response of “Rock of Ages” is amazing… The synchronization with the performance and the song is like “part of the band”, and for a moment I wondered “did they bring a chorus?” It really “musically” gets the crowd excited. 1983 was the year when the breakthrough of “PYROMANIA” made the whole world aware of “DEF LEPPARD”. It was precisely because of that era that catchy yet wild rock swirled, and the audience pushed back with real-time passion. This masterpiece captured the scene with a professional 100% live sound.
