Description
A fantastic official documentary and live video work will be released. The true identity of this work is the DVD that came with the 30th anniversary edition of “DEEPEST PURPLE: THE VERY BEST OF DEEP PURPLE” released in 2010. DEEPEST PURPLE is a best album that was released in 1980 and sold 3.5 million copies worldwide. This is a famous album that reigns at the top of the countless purple compilations that exist, not only in terms of sales but also in terms of quality and song selection. Purple has been releasing a series of anniversary editions of their masterpieces, but their collection also includes the best masterpieces. However, in Japan, there has been no domestic release, probably due to the deep-rooted prejudice that “the best edition is for older people”. Now, 10 years later, even imported discs come with a premium. The highlight of the 30th anniversary edition was the bonus DVD. This is a hidden masterpiece. The content is about 100 minutes of the “Purple 70s” with valuable professional shots of TV appearances. There are many videos that are familiar to enthusiasts, such as the multi-geo live performance of “Hush” in which Richie, wearing a green lame costume, strums a Gibson ES335, but these are official works. Both video and audio are in perfect master quality, and each song is recorded in full. Moreover, they have even created their own new clips for songs such as “Child In Time” and “Stormbringer.” It is exactly “DEEPEST PURPLE seen with the eyes”, but it is actually much more than that. A number of valuable videos are linked together with comments from those involved, making them a historical video. Moreover, the person involved is the founder John Lord. John passed away in 2012, so this work was made in his later years, two years before that, and he carefully unravels the history while interweaving each video one by one. Memories of the band’s formation and first stage, scenes from when they toured the US for the first time, episodes from TV appearances, stories behind the writing of famous songs, etc. The comments are real and very interesting because they are the people involved. As mentioned above, this video work did not have Japanese subtitles because it was not released in Japan, but it does have subtitles from various countries. If you display English subtitles, you can easily understand the content. As I immersed myself in the rare footage and John’s commentary, I was surprised by the chapter on “MADE IN JAPAN.” “Space Truckin’” is shown in the example monochrome film video. This footage was also seen on the documentary DVD included in the 2014 box set, but this work was released four years before the box. Why wasn’t there a Japanese version even though it contained such shocking footage? This video is not a full song as expected, and John’s comments are also included. In fact, it is now a valuable version. DEEP PURPLE is over 50 years old, but “DEEPEST PURPLE” is a best album that summarizes the album up to the 1970s. Therefore, the footage in this work is limited to the 60s/70s. Of course, there is nothing wrong with that, and the moment when you can enjoy about 100 minutes of the most delicious footage of the era is nothing but bliss. A deep purple visual history written with master quality visual beauty and numerous comments from John Lord himself. DEEP PURPLE – LIVE HISTORY 1968-1976 1. Jon Lord Discusses Hush 2. Hush 3.
