Description
After releasing “THE HOUSE OF BLUE LIGHT”, DEEP PURPLE kicked off their 1987 world tour with three consecutive performances in Budapest, Hungary, and the recordings will be released in an amazing 6-disc set using the master provided by the recorder! The truth and the whole picture of the live performance, which has been famous among enthusiasts since the analog era, will finally be revealed! The live recordings from the second reunion album “HOUSE OF BLUELIGHT”, released after many twists and turns, include the official live work “NOBODY’S PERFECT”, as well as various soundboard recordings and excellent audience recordings. Of these, the performance in Budapest, Hungary, which was held for three consecutive days from January 26th to 28th, the first day of the tour, which also served as a warm-up, is particularly famous among enthusiasts since the analog era for “HUNGARY DAYS”, which uses a high-quality audience source. This item was officially bootlegged as one of “THE BOOTLEG SIREIS 1984-2000” in 2002, and is still popular among fans as one of the representative sound sources of that time. The “HUNGARY DAYS” had ambiguous date and time credits, and one theory among enthusiasts (including overseas) has been that “is it a combination of three days of patterns?” However, with the appearance of this work, one answer to that controversy will be presented. This work, which packages this special three consecutive performances based on the highest quality master provided by a taper living overseas, will reveal the full picture of the live that could not be seen in past items and official bootlegs! On discs 1 and 2, you can enjoy the pattern of January 26th, the first day (this Hungarian performance has been divided into two theories among enthusiasts, “January 26th-28th theory” and “January 27th-29th theory”, but according to the taper who provided the sound source, the first day was the 26th). Among overseas enthusiasts, the performance recorded in “HUNGARY DAYS” seems to have been considered the first day’s pattern, but this first day’s sound source has never been recorded, and this is the first time it has appeared as a collector’s item (although the atmosphere of the show is similar, the performance content is different). The sound image is not fixed and somewhat unstable at the beginning of the live performance, such as “Highway Star”, but it gradually improves and almost solidifies around “The Unwritten Law”. As a contemporary audience recording, it is a sound for enthusiasts, but considering that it was recorded in the eastern part before liberalization, just being able to listen to the recording is more than enough. As it is a show that also serves as a warm-up for a full-scale world tour, there are some stiff parts in the performance, but the tension and feeling of groping unique to the first day are interesting, and the more enthusiastic you are, the more you will be able to listen while checking the details. In this recording, the audience’s reaction from the opening is tremendous, and the recording is characterized by a sense of realism, and the enthusiasm in “Highway Star” and “Strange Kind Of Woman” is reminiscent of the first visit to Japan in 1972. The band will also give a passionate performance of “Child In Time” and “Knocking At Your Back Door” to meet the expectations of the audience. The 14-minute “Space Truckin'” is a big highlight from the first day. The encore is a little precarious, with Gillan’s vocals becoming less at the beginning of the first “Speed King”, but it proceeds in a fun mood with “Call Of The Wild”, “Woman From Tokyo” and the last “Black Night” (not playing “Smoke On The Water” is also a feature of this day). Discs 1 and 2 are valuable documents of the first day of the tour, and are sound sources with the value unique to audience recordings. Discs 3 and 4 contain the second day, the 27th (some items known overseas, such as “FIRST NIGHT IN HUNGARY”, consider this day to be the first day, but according to the recorder, the 27th was the second day). Here, the recording is more visible and well-balanced than the previous day, and you can get a good grasp of the performance from the beginning. Pace’s drums are powerful, so you can enjoy the groove of “Strange Kind Of Woman” and the following drum solo “The Unwritten Law”. Also, thanks to the stable sound image, you can enjoy the band ensemble carefully, and “Dead Or Alive” and “Perfect Strangers”, which feature Richie and John’s melodic play, fully demonstrate the charm of the songs. After the first day, it seems that the stiffness has disappeared somewhat, and “Child In Time” explodes with the destructive performance that is characteristic of this lineup, making it a great listening point. The attention points on the second day are the three songs “Speed King”, “Call Of The Wild”, and “Woman From Tokyo”, which are fired as encores at the end of Disc 4. As you can understand by listening and comparing, these are the same performances recorded on “HUNGARY DAYS”. As it was said in the analog era that “the material from three days was collected”, it is clear that the encore part of “HUNGARY DAYS” was edited and added to the take on the second day. Discs 5 and 6, which contain the final day, the 28th, are the live performance of “HUNGARY DAYS”, which has been familiar to enthusiasts since the analog era. However, as you can tell at a glance, the masters of the official bootleg “HUNGARY DAYS” and the original sound source are different, and there are parts that have not been released yet, so even enthusiasts who have listened to the standard sound sources should be able to enjoy it from the opening with interest. Although there is a slight hiss noise derived from the master, the brightness, directness, and sound spread are particularly excellent over the three days, and you can enjoy a dynamic live performance from the intro of “Highway Star”. The thrilling “Dead Or Alive”, the speedy “Hard Lovin’ Woman”, and the groovy “Bad Attitude” are all clearly individual new songs, so you can enjoy the taste of the set list at that time. Another highlight of this day is that the playful elements that are characteristic of PURPLE are stronger than on the first and second days. Until the day before, “Lazy” was played for just over 4 minutes, but at the beginning, Richie and John’s exchange develops into the Hungarian folk music “Csardas” (Czardas), which is unique to the final day. The exotic mood, which is different from the live performances in the United States, the United Kingdom, and Japan, is worth listening to. In “HUNGARY DAYS”, the second half of “Lazy” faded out, but in this recording, you can listen to “Csardas” and “Lazy” for about 7 minutes in total, which is also a nice thing. In addition, this live was the only show in the three days where “Black Night” and “Smoke On The Water” were played as an encore at the same time, so you can enjoy a truly PURPLE-like show throughout the entire show. The first half of the “HOUSE OF BLUELIGHT” tour was a stable and fulfilling live performance that made it seem like a lie that the album was difficult to produce, and the performances of Richie, Gillan, and others were also excellent. This Hungarian performance, which announced the beginning of the band, can be said to be a live performance that deeply entertains the fifth generation of DEEP PURPLE in many aspects, such as the songs performed, the content, the recording time, and the excitement of the audience. This extraordinary 6-disc set that will entertain you in the best way possible about the ’87 Hungarian performance, which just celebrated its 25th anniversary this year, is definitely a must-have for DEEP PURPLE enthusiasts!Sportcsarnok, Budapest, Hungary 26th, 27th & 28th January 1987 TRULY AMAZING SOUND Live at Sportcsarnok, Budapest, Hungary 26th January 1987 Disc 1(57:15) 1.
