Description
The legendary soundboard album that pours the rare song “Mary Long” into your brain has been brushed up. It is now available as the highest peak updated sound CD by “GRAF ZEPPELIN”. This work is engraved with the “March 16, 1973 Lyon performance”. This is the soundboard recording. “Mary Long” was not uncommon in the Steve Morse era, but it was only performed in the first half of the “WHO DO WE THINK WE ARE Tour” in the 1970s. In order to understand the situation around there, let’s first take a bird’s-eye view of the activities at that time and explore the position of this work. “Purple Portrait” released on January 13th January 16th-March 20th: Europe #1 (36 performances) ←★Here★ April 12th-26th? : North America (11 performances) “Mary Long” is out of the set” April 28th? – June 19: North America (31 shows) ・ June 23-29: Japan (6 shows: collapse of Phase II) 《September: Start of Phase III》 《November: Completion of “Purple Flame”》 ・ December 9-17: Europe #2 (5 shows) This is DEEP PURPLE in 1973. “WHO DO WE THINK WE ARE” was released at the beginning of the year, but Phase II collapsed at the return to Japan six months later. It was a historic turning point to move to Phase III. Among them, “Mary Long” was played until the middle of the “North American” leg. It is not strictly certain because the set list for all the shows is not known, but it is probably late April when Ian Gillan was temporarily in poor health. 23 years later, the seal of “Mary Long” was also lifted, but Ritchie Blackmore had already left the band. In the end, the originators never performed together. In the midst of this journey, the Lyon performance of this work is the 32nd performance of the “Europe #1” leg. This show was broadcast on AM radio and has long been known as the only soundboard recording with “Mary Long” recorded on it. This work is the highest peak update of such a legendary broadcast sound source. The best master has been polished up by “GRAF ZEPPELIN”. First of all, the source was the best master released by the prestigious “Kro_co”. In fact, there are several types of “Kro_co” masters, some of which contain digital errors. This time, we verified all of these small version differences and found the most beautiful master. Then, “GRAF ZEPPELIN” meticulously mastered that best master. Pitch correction, band correction, balance adjustment, etc. … All kinds of techniques are used, but was the phase correction particularly effective this time? In fact, all the previously released groups and the currently circulating masters are out of phase. If you have any of them, please listen to them with headphones. You will notice a subtle discomfort as if your head is being pulled to the right. This work is stable with phase correction that does not allow even 1/1000th of a second of deviation. The discomfort that was a fate until now has been eliminated. In addition, various noise processing is also large. Since the source is AM broadcasting, there was a high-pitched reception noise, and the hiss noise was strong throughout the whole work. This work dramatically eliminates such noise. Of course, it is the very limit where distortion does not occur in the performance sound, and the natural feeling is not lost … no, the sound hidden by the noise has been revived and the natural feeling has been improved. The golden II period of DEEP PURPLE, which came to an end with the re-visit to Japan of the same set as “MADE IN JAPAN”. The sound board of “Mary Long” played by Ritchie Blackmore is only a studio work and a performance in Lyon later and later. This is a piece that updates the highest peak of such a unique live performance. The latest remaster decision board from the familiar krw_co released 48khz sound source! In addition to solving the problem of the sound image being biased to one side due to the phase shift, which was a problem with all previous releases, the reception noise (keen sound) that was floating around 3kHz from beginning to end has been removed without any discomfort, making it much easier to listen to! The band balance has also been accurately adjusted, and the hiss is not too loud, and the sound image is not too submerged, so you can enjoy the fresh AM radio texture from beginning to end. Of course, there is no digital noise or gap noise at the beginning of the CD, which was already released in some places, and this is the first update in a long time! The legendary soundboard recording of the “Lyon performance on March 16, 1973”. This is the only AM soundboard that recorded the live performance of the rare song “Mary Long”, and is the highest peak update board that “GRAF ZEPPELIN” has polished the best master excavated by “Kro_co”. The reception noise and hiss noise have been largely eliminated, and the phase shift that was a fate until now has been strictly corrected. This is the legendary live album that has been revived with an unprecedented natural feeling. Palais Des Sports, Lyon, France 16th March 1973 SBD UPGRADE (50:04) 1. Highway Star 2.
