Description

This is a live collection of ballads recorded from a live performance at Sejong Cultural Center in Seoul, Korea on May 12th, from the tour accompanying the release of the album “Pearls,” which is composed of covers of standards and pop songs. The studio-recorded “Pearls” is a work that various members participated in the recording and strings were added, making it his masterpiece. This live performance allows you to fully experience the tarnished silver of Sanborn’s style that could not be expressed in the studio version. The first song is “This Masterade,” written by Leon Russell and known as a big hit for George Benson, followed by superb ballads such as The Platters’ masterpiece “Smoke Gets in Your Eyes” and Shardy’s hit song “Pearls.” Funky Sanborn is cool, but the mellow and moody Sanborn is also exceptional. On piano, Gil Goldstein, who has participated in albums by Wayne Shorter and Gil Evans and contributed to the production, arrangement, orchestration, and conducting of Michael Brecker’s album “Wide Angles,” participates. The Soul Art Orchestra also joined in on strings, making this a gorgeous live performance that fans will want to listen to.
