Description

A pro shot of Bowie’s only special show in his life is to be released. The “special show” is “Moscow performance on June 18, 1996”. It is a scene from “OUTSIDE TOUR 1995-1996”. First, let’s imagine it from the whole world tour. September-October 1995: North America (27 performances) November-December 1995: UK (16 performances) January-February 1996: Europe #1 (23 performances) June 1996: Japan (7 performances) June-July 1996: Europe #2 (20 performances) ←★ Here ★ This is the whole view of “OUTSIDE TOUR 1995-1996”. This work is the first day of “Europe #2”. In other words, it was also the “next concert” of the Japanese performance. What is so special about such a show? It is in the country of performance itself. In fact, this is Bowie’s only Russian performance. In 1990, he held concerts in former communist countries such as Hungary and Yugoslavia, but this was the only time he sang in Russia in his entire life. Of course, Bowie himself probably didn’t think that this was the last time, but there’s no doubt that this was his first experience. Unlike the usual enthusiastic fans, Bowie was in front of an audience that sat quietly and stared. It was a rare and strange sight to witness. This was such a rare Russian performance, but the quality was exceptional. Of course, it was the 90s, so it was broadcast on analog, but at the time it was more than enough for an official release…or rather, even by modern standards, it would be of a quality that would pass for an official work as part of an archive. Moreover, the filming itself was excellent. Russia is a developing country in rock, but it is one of the world’s leading superpowers. Unlike South America, the stage direction is first-class and the camera work, which moves around a lot, is dynamic. Although there is a sense of a different way to hold the angles from the UK and the US, the filming technology is definitely world-class. It’s a shame that it’s only a 60-minute digest recording from the broadcast slot, but it’s a gem that allows you to witness a once-in-a-lifetime live performance in the finest quality. After the Russian performance, we also recorded a bonus pro shot of the same “OUTSIDE TOUR 1995-1996”. The stage for this is London, the home ground that is the exact opposite of Russia. This is the “Brit Awards” awards ceremony performance held on “February 19, 1996”. The Russian performance was “after Japan”, but this is the performance “two before Japan”. This is also a gorgeous pro shot, but the atmosphere is completely different. Bowie was awarded the “Award for Life”, but he appeared in pin-heeled pumps designed by Katharine Hamnett and with a large earring on one ear. He was greeted by the loud cheers of his hometown and sang three songs, “Hallo Spaceboy”, “Moonage Daydream”, and “Under Pressure”. “Hallo Spaceboy” is particularly wonderful. This year, the remix version featuring PET SHOP BOYS was a hit, but here you can see the performance with PET SHOP BOYS. The one and only performance in Russia and the dazzling performance with PET SHOP BOYS at the awards ceremony in his hometown… completely opposite, but both are special live performances that can’t be found anywhere else. This is a masterpiece that allows you to enjoy the best professional shots at once. A rare and special one. Kremlin Palace Concert Hall. Moscow. Russia 18th June 1996 PRO-SHOT 1. The Motel 2.
