Description

A collection of professional shots capturing the precious 70’s will be released. This work contains TV appearances from 1974 to 1976. This is a compilation of 10 songs from 4 shows of Bowie from the “YOUNG AMERICANS” and “STATION TO STATION” eras. Let’s take a closer look at each show. [November 4, 1975: SOUL TRAIN] First up is “SOUL TRAIN”, a soul music hall of fame show. The appearance was in 1975, but this is the version that was broadcast in Japan in 1976. Although it was before the release of “STATION TO STATION” at the time, he had already completed it, and in addition to “Fame”, he also performed “Golden Years” in mime. However, what is even more must-see is the interview at the beginning of the show and the Q&A with the black (!) fans at the venue. This was a time when he was devoted to soul music, and he talks about his feelings about soul music and “The Man Who Fell to Earth”, which was about to be released. It’s an interesting composition just to have a white man talking about soul music, which is the pride of black people, but we can’t miss the appearance of Bowie himself. At that time, he was suffering even before drugs, and according to one theory, he was also high at this time, and his behavior was somewhat suspicious. He answers the questions of the fans and performs with a dry laugh. In overseas broadcasts, only his behavior was visible, but this work is broadcast in Japan. The content of the talk is vividly understood with subtitles. [November 23, 1975: THE CHER SHOW] Next is Cher’s program, which appeared two weeks after “SOUL TRAIN”. Although there is no talk here, he performed three songs, “Fame”, “Can You Hear Me?”, and “Young Americans Medley”, and Cher duets on the latter two songs. I should have mentioned this earlier, but this work is not only valuable footage but also of excellent quality. Each video uses the best master, and the visual beauty is so beautiful that it can be used as it is on the official DVD. This show features close-ups and a fantastical image production with a dated feel, but all of it is depicted with vivid and lustrous colors. [December 5, 1974: DICK CAVETT SHOW] The third one is a little further back, appearing in 1974 on the “DICK CAVETT SHOW”. It is a live performance in the studio, performed with enthusiasm on the set of the broadcast song. This was the time when the “DIAMOND DOGS TOUR” ended and the production of “YOUNG AMERICANS” was reaching its climax on the 4th. That’s why they started with “1984” from “DIAMOND DOGS”, and already performed “Young Americans”. The third song, “Footstompin'”, is also worth noting. This song is a cover of the doo-wop group THE FLAIRS, and was also the original material for “Fame”. It is a song that can only be found at the time when “YOUNG AMERICANS” was about to be born, and you can witness such a rare performance with a superb professional shot. [February 1976: DINAH SHORE SHOW] Finally, the time flies again to 1976. A live performance in the studio when he appeared on a program with American actress Dinah Shore. Although this video has a slightly sweet image quality, the noiseless and distortion-free master is still wonderful, and above all, the vivid coloring is beautiful as it was at the time. The time was just after the release of “STATION TO STATION” and just embarked on the “ISOLAR – 1976 TOUR”. This is a professional shot of “THIN WHITE DUKE” singing “Stay” and “Five Years” in the station set. That’s 10 songs from 4 programs. Not only are each one a superb and precious professional shot, but it is a masterpiece video that shows the transition of the time when he was facing soul music at a glance. Bowie was still mysterious and beautiful while changing his appearance. His “1974-1976”. Please have it in your hands.
