Description

Another top quality edition of the stereo soundboard album that shines in Bowie’s history is here. A year after he left us, our shop has teamed up with a world authority on Bowie research to permanently preserve the finest soundboards left in his career. Not only do we dig up famous sound sources, but also select the masters that are “the pinnacle” with a solid selection eye backed by the deep knowledge of researchers, and finish the famous recordings with mastering from a research perspective that is familiar with both musicality and value. To give a brief list of the lineup, we have “HAMMERSMITH ODEON 1973”, “ROTTERDAM 1976”, “MILTON KEYNES BOWL 1990 2ND NIGHT”, “LORELEY 1996”, “GLASTONSTONBURY FESTIVAL 2000”, “MONTREUX 2002”, etc. Although most of the recordings are classics, many people were surprised that there was such a good version. This is the latest rehearsal album from the 1990 hit parade tour “SOUND + VISION TOUR”. Speaking of rehearsal albums, the recently released “DALLAS REHEARSALS 1983” was also very well received, but if the last one was Stevie Ray Vaughan, this time it’s Adrian Belew. It’s a recording that Adrian recorded as a memo, and it was leaked from the desk. In fact, this recording itself has been famous since then and has produced countless pre-releases, including “OVERTURE & BEGINNERS” and “REHEARSING SOUND & VISION”, but this work is a little different. Of course, the performance / recording itself is the same, but among core collectors it is called the “DAT version” and is treated as a special case that sets it apart from bootleg recordings. In fact, the quality is incomparable to any other previously released recordings. The beautiful sound, which was directly converted to CD from the DAT master, has no deterioration, and there is no hiss or twisting. The direct-connected sound unique to the leaked sound board flows endlessly from both ears to the brain. Adrian’s guitar is of course wonderful, but Bowie’s vocals are particularly wonderful. Since it is a rehearsal that is not a real performance, his relaxed singing voice has a private feeling that is very different from a normal concert. No matter how many live records with a direct-connected sound board in the world, there will be no recording that is as intimate as this one, with a feeling of “singing” and “talking” to you. Moreover, it is not a collection of small practice parts, but a confirmation stage where the arrangement is almost complete. You can enjoy the 1990 version of the super masterpieces with plenty of superb sound. It is wonderful because it is a direct-connected feeling, but not only that. In fact, the direct-connected sound board is so direct that it feels bland, but this work is different. While the “vivid feeling directly connected to the table” is solid, the musical tones can also be enjoyed with a rich “ringing”. It is probably the acoustics of a rehearsal studio to check the details of the ensemble. It is extremely thick and delicate, but at the same time very beautiful. Bowie probably had the audience in his mind, but the rehearsal was a rehearsal in which his sharpened senses were focused only on the music. It is an album that allows you to immerse yourself in that beautiful space with your whole body. Of course, you can’t expect the same level of perfection as the final concert, but it is a piece that allows you to touch the precious “rehearsal expression” with the best sound. A page in the life of musician Bowie, different from the studio albums and stages that are “works”. The melodies of the masterpieces dance, colored with intimacy and quality. The ultimate form of a special stereo soundboard album in Bowie’s career. Rehearsals in New York, NY. USA February 1990 STEREO SBD (67:29) 1. Space Oddity 2. Changes 3. TVC15 4. Rebel Rebel 5.
