Description
Bowie in 1987 was embodying the height of the pop star route while welcoming Peter Frampton. The best rehearsal album will be released. “GLASS SPIDER TOUR”, which was extremely luxurious and gorgeous, tends to be talked about with pros and cons, but the live album is especially harsh. Although the performance itself was extremely professional, it is often said that the show, which has a strong visual element and is meticulously crafted, lacks the thrill that can only be achieved on stage. There is also the definitive official video work “GLASS SPIDER”, so it is not surprising that “just the official one is enough”. However, there are some interesting sound sources because it is such a “GLASS SPIDER TOUR”. It’s a tour rehearsal. You can feel the process of creating a perfect show-up, and try out songs that were not played on the tour. The live performance is even more interesting than the actual performance, and there is plenty of fun to peek behind the scenes. “GLASS SPIDER TOUR” has been so polished that you can’t see the difference between each performance, and you can enjoy a completely different level of expression. This work is such a rehearsal album. This is a vacuum-packed stereo soundboard recording of a rehearsal that is said to have taken place in “March/April 1987: New York” with the best sound. In fact, several types of “GLASS SPIDER TOUR” rehearsals are known in each country. Let’s sort out the situation here.・March/April: New York rehearsal ←★This work★《March 17th-30th: European promo tour 9 performances》》《May 18th-28th: Rotterdam rehearsal《May 30th: GLASS SPIDER TOUR begins》・June 6th: Berlin Rehearsal・June 17th-19th: London Rehearsal These are the four rehearsals that are known. Of these, rehearsals in Berlin and London were already on tour, and it seems that it was a final adjustment just before the show in each country was held. The only sound sources confirmed are early New York and Rotterdam, and this work is the earliest rehearsal. This work recorded at such a rehearsal is a stereo sound board with the highest quality. In normal tour rehearsals, there are many things that just put up a microphone for confirmation, and there are many things that are just literally recorded, but this work is different. It’s a perfect line recording, and if the mix is right, the stereo feeling is excellent. Perhaps they were also testing the on-site PA mix, but the level of perfection is such that it can be used as is for FM broadcasting. I was surprised not only by the sound, but also by the high level of perfection in the performance. As mentioned above, the New York Rehearsals are the earliest, and have long been referred to as “1st Rehearsals” by collectors. However, the content had already been completed, and not only the practice of the songs, but even the order of the songs, was rehearsed just like the actual performance. Although you can hear some re-doings and conversations during some of the songs, the performances are of a high standard and could stand as a musical piece as is. That is a wonderful studio live work. Moreover, the performance is similar and different from the actual performance. Let’s sort it out… ●”HEROES” (2 songs)・”Heroes”/Sons Of The Silent Age ●SCARY MONSTERS (4 songs)・Fashion/Scary Monsters (And Super Creeps)・Songs that cannot be heard on GLASS SPIDER : Because You’re Young/Scream Like A Baby ●LET’S DANCE (3 songs)・Let’s Dance/China Girl/Modern Love ●TONIGHT (3 songs)・Loving The Alien/Blue Jean・Songs that can’t be heard on GLASS SPIDER: Dancing With The Big Boys ●NEVER LET ME DOWN (10 songs)・Glass Spider/Day-In Day-Out/Bang Bang/Never Let Me Down/87 And Cry/Time Will Crawl/Beat Of Your Drum Songs that cannot be heard on GLASS SPIDER: Shining Star (Makin’ My Love)/New York’s In Love/Zeroes ●Others (5 songs)・All The Madmen/Time/Big Brother/Fame/Absolute Beginners…and so on. The official work of the main tour “GLASS SPIDER” was also released in 2007 as a special edition with a 2-CD set, but there are 6 songs that cannot be heard on that CD version. “Dancing With The Big Boys,” “New York’s In Love,” and “Zeroes,” which were played during the show but were dropped during the tour, are delicious, but even better are “Because You’re Young” and “Scream Like A Baby.” Three songs: “Shining Star (Makin’ My Love)”. Not only was it not played in the main part of “GLASS SPIDER TOUR,” but it was not used on any subsequent or previous tours. You can listen to the one and only live performance on the finest stereo sound board. Live performances at rehearsals are more vivid than studio recordings, and unlike on stage, there is no awareness of the presence of the audience. It’s full of the flavor of a studio live performance, and even includes extremely rare sample songs that were made possible by rehearsals. Although it is a “third world” different from the official “NEVER LET ME DOWN” and “GLASS SPIDER”, it is a superb stereo soundboard album that connects the two.
