Description
This is a soundboard album containing BBC studio live recordings. It was recorded on “September 18th BBC Maida Vale Studio 3” and the sound is truly official. It’s a perfect line recording that could be included with a studio album in a deluxe edition or something. I’m happy just to be able to listen to the 10 songs and about 1 hour live with that highest quality, but the content of the live is also amazing. It is an orthodox style of playing classical music centered around the number of the latest work “HEATHEN” at the time, but the old songs selected there are not the best. “Alabama Song,” which will be revived for the first time since 1978, “Rebel Rebel,” which Bowie himself thought he would “never sing again,” and the ultimate song is “The Bewlay Brothers.” It’s a number from the 1971 masterpiece “HUNKY DORY,” but it was premiered on this day, more than 31 years ago. This is the moment when the spotlight shines on a literal “hidden masterpiece” for the first time. These rare songs can be heard in the main three-disc set, but the live performance that remains on the official sound board is irresistible. Moreover, not only the sound, but also the performance on this day was very fulfilling, and even the new song “Everyone Says ‘Hi’” is finished in a masterpiece that surpasses any live version. It is said that Bowie was singing for his beloved daughter Alexandra (who was 2 years old at the time) who was still in New York while filming the audience with a digital camera, but on top of that, such a great performance… Rarity, quality, performance, and singing voice. All of this is a treasured live album with a perfect score of 100. BBC Maida Vale Studio 3, London, UK 18th September 2002 STEREO SBD Broadcast: BBC Radio 2 on 5th October 2002 01.
