Description

“THE HOURS… TOUR” was only 9 performances. The official stereo soundboard album is now available. This work includes “October 14, 1999: Paris Performance”. This is the super best soundboard recording. “THE HOURS… TOUR” is considered to be one of the world tours according to custom, but its actual content is more like a promo tour. In North America, New York is the only one, and in Europe, only the major cities of each country. It was a mini tour with only 9 performances even counting the official “VH1 STORYTELLERS”. On the other hand, it is also famous for the large number of high quality pro shots and soundboards that remain. We have introduced many titles in our store. First, let’s organize the collection according to that date and check the position of this work. ★August 23rd: New York official “VH1 STORYTELLERS”《“hours…” released on September 21st》★October 9th: London performance “NETAID 1999” October 10th: Dublin performance★October 14th: Paris Performances [This work] October 17th: Vienna performance November 19th: New York “KIT KAT KLUB 1999” December 2nd: London performance “ASTORIA 1999” “LONDON HOURS” December 4th: Milan performance・December 7th: Copenhagen performance *Note: TV and radio appearances are omitted. The “★” mark is a professional shot. The official work “VH1 STORYTELLERS”, which is a symbol of this tour, is also included, but after the release of the album, the guitar was changed from Reeves Gabriels to Paige Hamilton of HELMET. The main part of the tour was a total of 8 performances. As mentioned above, the top record is biased towards the two cities of New York/London, but the Paris performance of this work is one of the masterpieces of the European continent, which is neither of those. [Ultra-excellent quality that has significantly updated the highest ever record] This work is truly an official masterpiece. Pro shots have been known as a standard, and we have introduced them at our store as gift DVDRs, etc., but the quality of this work is on a completely different level. Judging from the balance of the mix, it seems that the original is the same as the sound board for TV broadcasting, but it is more than one minute longer than that, and the exchange when introducing Gail Ann Dorsey is also recorded for a long time. However, what is more shocking than the length is the sound itself. This is super-excellent. At our store, under the supervision of overseas Bowie researchers, we have introduced a large number of the highest quality updated quality boards of standard sound boards. Especially in “THE HOURS… TOUR”, “LONDON HOURS” and “KIT KAT KLUB 1999” reign as the highest peaks in history, and this work is the latest version. This is exactly “a familiar performance, but a sound I’ve never heard before.” From the opening song “Life On Mars?”, you will be stunned by the beauty. Up until now, the professional shot audio had the feeling that Bowie’s singing voice was buried in a thick echo, but in this work, a clear core penetrates from the middle. Even the faint shouts made when the microphone is removed are delicate, and the details at the level of breathing are extremely vivid. Of course, not only the singing voice but also the performance sound is the same. The contours of each instrument are beautifully drawn, and the deep gaps are also expressed. As a result, a wonderful three-dimensional effect emerges, and it is a completely different listening experience from the flat professional shot sound. Furthermore, the freshness of the master is amazing. The peaks of the pro-shot audio so far have been slightly crushed, and Bowie’s singing voice has cracked in places, as if bubbles were mixed in. However, this is not the case at all in this work. From beginning to end, the lustrous sound continues to be maintained, and even if Bowie screams with all his might or the band approaches fortissimo, it does not waver in the slightest. It is truly an official grade, and it is not an excavated sound source, but a masterpiece-class sound board that is normally released… No, it may be more than that. In recent official releases, the sound pressure is often raised to gain power, but this work has a refreshing natural feel without that. Even if this show is made official, it is a super beautiful sound board of a dimension that cannot be reached at all. [Show from the “hours…” era when Bowie was also in great shape] The show drawn with such a sound is also exquisite. As mentioned earlier, “VH1 STORYTELLERS” is the standard at this time, but this work is a similar but different show. Although it is about 78 minutes long, it cannot be called a full show, but it is centered around new songs from “hours…” and also includes a concentration of classic songs. Not only the 60’s single “Can’t Help Thinking About Me” which was a highlight at the time, but also “Drive In Saturday” which was revived for the first time in 25 years, “I Can’t Read” by TIN MACHINE, and ” There are lots of delicious songs such as “Seven”. In particular, “Something In The Air”, which was released for the first time in 23 years, “Word On A Wing”, “Changes”, “Repetition”, and “The Pretty Things Are Going To Hell” are numbers that could not be heard even on “VH1 STORYTELLERS”. And the performance that plays such a set is also wonderful. The mood was more homely than other tours, and Bowie was relaxed from beginning to end. Between songs, he plays around with the members and makes the audience laugh. Of course, I’m not feeling down. In “LONDON HOURS”, the singing voice was painfully cold, but the vocalization in this work is in excellent condition and is truly glossy. “Thursday Child” and “Repetition” let you hear plenty of wonderful singing voices that are more than just precious. Another point is the guitar. In “VH1 STORYTELLERS” Reeves Gabriels was the lead guitar, but in this work Paige Hamilton. He is the leader of HELMET, which was all the rage as a standard-bearer of alternative metal, and a genius who created the sound of the 90s. You can fully enjoy that guitar work on the finest sound board. Following “LONDON HOURS” and “KIT KAT KLUB 1999”, this is an ultra-excellent stereo sound board album that has once again reached the highest peak in history. “VH1 STORYTELLERS” is the latest installment of a superb trilogy that tells the main part of the tour with different members, and is a piece where you can fully enjoy Bowie’s singing voice, which is in top form.
